She has settled in well and seems to be very happy now. Initially, she wasn't too thrilled about the move and wanted to go back to her house. However, I'm pleased to say that things have changed. She's become quite content with her new surroundings. She's been enjoying playing bingo, has made some friends, and seems to have found a comfortable rhythm with everything. Thank you so much for all your efforts in making her transition a smooth one. It's such a relief to see her happy and thriving.","reviewerDisplayName":"Anonymous","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"Good care, my loved one is happy!","reviewContent":"The move in was very easy. Easy moving my loved one from Assisted to Memory Care also. Food has been an issue. My loved one does not eat pork, chicken or meat. They knew this going in. The current chef is really trying to make things there better. He has new recipes and I do think the food has been better since he came. Housekeeping is great. They empty trash and keep rooms clean. They do my loved one's laundry (I used to do it in Assisted Living). I think the staff are nice. They probably need more staff, but I think they try. I would like more activities on a daily a basis. Sometimes they have things written on a calendar, but the activity doesn't happen. I do think that it is extremely important for families to visit. Very few residents in Memory Care have visitors. I think they may treat my loved one better because they know my family is there everyday, at different times. I do think they should communicate with families more. They have recently raised the rent almost 10%. That is a lot. But, they have been painting and planting and making the building more inviting. I like the Memory Care Director and the caregivers. It is a very challenging job. The Memory Care Director, [name removed], is always smiling. The new Executive Director, [name removed], is trying to organize and make things more efficient and pleasurable. Overall, I would place my loved one here again, if the choice were for today. The staff treat the residents with respect and kindness. They are professional. Everyone is friendly. The community was always clean when we would visit our loved one. There were meals and activities available for the residents to engage with other residents for socialization. Overall, this is a community we would recommend to others.","reviewerDisplayName":"Richard","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"}],"parentOrgReview":{"name":"WellQuest Living","slug":"well-quest-living-1420283","averageReviewScoreDisplay":7.5,"communityCount":15,"reviewCount":381}},"communityName":"The Commons at Woodland Hills","leadgenCompleted":false}

Community Details

The community encourages residents to remain as independent as they’d like while offering them support when needed. Residents requiring minimal assistance can enjoy independent living with core services including weekly housekeeping, scheduled transportation, and a 24-hour emergency response system.

Residents requiring additional assistance are offered the same core services amidst custom care services in assisted living. The compassionate caregiving team works around the clock and provides assistance with daily living activities, medication monitoring, transferring, and incontinence care. Furthermore, residents diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or other dementias can benefit from the same services but with a personalized approach that helps each individual’s abilities.

Although the first priority is each resident’s well-being, keeping residents active and engaged is a close second. Whether you’re interested in exercising, playing games, reading books, or watching movies, the community has something in store for every hobby. The activities calendar is ever-changing and offers new experiences to residents weekly. Furthermore, the memory care program caters activities to each resident’s interests and abilities to help them properly engage.

Residents are also encouraged to spend time building friendships by taking advantage of the community’s shared spaces. Enjoy three nutritious meals daily in the elegant dining room, or gather around the living areas. Residents can also accompany one another in the fitness center, lounge, computer room, library, or on the shaded patio. For residents looking to venture out into the city, the staff will happily schedule off-site trips catered to their interests.
