My loved one is happy at The Atrium at Carmichael. She's eating, gaining weight and is happy with the environment. There are no complaints that I know of. It's important to note that I'm not in the same city, but she does seem to be settled in there.
The community is going through construction right now, so cleanliness has been a bit tough. The Atrium at Carmichael does have a comfortable family-feel. The dining could use some improvement, the food itself is not very good. My loved ones apartment is decent for a 1 bedroom, it has a small full kitchen and it's very comfortable. The community offers transportation to appointments and stores, but you do have to reserve that service in advance. They also allow pets.
They are in the middle of totally redoing the facility so there is piles of stuff everywhere, insects are coming inside, and it is just not very clean. I liked the sales gal that I worked with, but I think she was looking more to rent the place rather than make sure it was a good fit for me. There is very little parking and most spots are reserved. They do have a lift here, but it has never worked. I do not eat the food here anymore. They have a regular menu and an alternate menu and the meals are not the most nutritious. They do have a great pastry chef though. There has been a lot of change since I moved in. I think it is a good fit for some other people, but I have not been very happy with my experience so far.
This community is currently going through renovations. One of my loved ones biggest complaints is about the food. I would say to check this community out for you or your loved one. The staff are doing a decent job despite all of the changes that they are currently going through.
The staff are wonderful, polite, and helpful. There is a variety of activities for the residents to participate in. They have mallard ducks here. It is a pretty community. I would recommend the community to others.

October 27, 2021Hello, thank you for your positive review, we are grateful to see that you feel this way! We strive to provide excellent care and service to our residents and their families at The Atrium of Carmichael. Thank you again, we hope you have a wonderful day!
The staff members here have been very friendly, they know everyone's name and are greet us when we walk by them. They don't serve breakfast it is more like a continental breakfast, but the lunch and dinners are great. I do enjoy playing bingo, cards and going to the morning exercise classes. The cost is excellent, very affordable because it is month to month. The apartment here is perfect for me, I have a really nice patio.

Response from The Atrium at Carmichael
October 27, 2021Anonymous, thank you for your kind words and this wonderful review!
Our loved one who is at The Atrium says the people there are really friendly, but the meals can use a little improvement.
We chose this facility because it was reasonably priced compared to others that we looked into. it is outdated but they were just bought out so they are supposed to start working on some of that stuff and they have improved a lot thus far. She is in a 1 bedroom and it is a good size for what she needs. They are very active and have a lot going on at all times. I would recommend to others looking especially for the price.
Every staff person has been friendly, helpful and ready to serve. I moved in last month and the fridge didn't work and I was brought another in right away. The meals have been good, servers are good. And all the residents have been so nice and helpful.
The staff members here are very nice, they are very caring and really do care about the elderly residents. They do try their best to make things comfortable here and they do have a lot of activities for the residents to participate in.
Overall this has been a good place. There's a variety of people who live here, as far as ethnic diversity, single men and women, as well as couples, also veterans. With over 100 residents, they make an effort to provide meetings or activities in smaller groups to encourage social distancing. They have a suggestion box for the residents, as well as a weekly meeting with the director to update the residents and allow them to voice any concerns. Within the last few weeks, there has been new ownership and management, and things are definitely different. There is a cleaning crew that comes in once a week to clean the apartments, and for a while this wasn't happening (not sure if it was related to Covid). And a lot of the residents rely on that help. On the 2nd floor specifically, I've noticed a very strong urine smell. The rest of the building smells okay, nothing noticeable one way or the other, good or bad. The food was good to start with, but after a while it's the same menu recycled. They might repeat a dish once within a week. Overall it's been a really great place. There are a lot of resources around it - two markets, a gas station, an Ace Hardware, a Dollar Tree, some fast food, some sit-downs, a Goodwill, a Rite-Aid. So they're pretty centrally located to businesses in the area. But they're about 10 minutes away from a freeway.
The executive director is the bomb, he's great. The staff is really warm and friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious enough, and it's the place to be.
The meals they server here are great, we get two a day and they offer plenty of activities to participate in. It is an older building, but they are going to start making a lot of changes soon, and the staff is good and the residents are friendly. This community is an A+.
I know you are going crazy right now but you are doing a great job! I don't envy you and everything you have to mitigate. I appreciate the update and look for to hearing from you at a later date.
[name removed], Thank you so much for doing this. I feel so much better having read it and knowing they have you working with them to keep them safe. You are a Blessing and your staff. Thank you for all you do. Stay well.
Thank you [name removed], I know my mom is safe there and that is and has been a comfort to our family and friends.
I applaud you and your staff on the care you are taking of your residents with regard to safety - keeping to their rooms - meals delivered in boxes - etc.
Thank you for putting in this extra effort, [name removed], to keep families in the loop. Dad [name removed], says approvingly "when [name removed] is down there during meal picks ups, that line really moves along! He's Good" Be well
