RENTERS BEWARE!!!!!!!! Honestly don’t even know where to start #1. SAFETY- There are many questionable looking and sketchy people wandering the hallways & premises. This could be due to the air bnb’s on property. There are at least 12-15 Units at Skyward Living that are rented as Air BNB’s. You never know who is coming in & out and new faces are seen daily. Kind of scary really Drunks fall asleep in the parcel room or in between the front doors. I have also experienced sketchy people in your parkade One of the persons I encountered asked me for change & to borrow my cellphone. When I said I did not have either, I was yelled and sworn at. Be advised, there is no actual security on site and people can get in through the front doors. If a tenant hits the automatic switches to open the doors, even when they use their fob, the doors stay open long enough to let outsiders in. I have witnessed this Also the cops frequent Skyward Living on a regular basis #2. PETS Skyward Living has absolutely no restrictions on pet type or weight. Although it clearly states on the pet agreement part of the lease that it forbids pit bulls, huskies & akitas, all 3 types live in the building . I had no problem with them but then don’t put this restriction on your lease. There is a little boy who lives in Skyward Living who is absolutely petrified of dogs. He would even scream & run when he saw my little 15 lb friendly dog. I can only imagine this poor boy’s reaction when he encounters the pit bull. Yikes!!!!! Although the building provides dog waste bags at every entrance, so many tenants did not clean up after their pets. This was an ongoing issue from the day I moved in. There is so many piles of feces surrounding the building and these piles are there for weeks and weeks. After the snow melted, the stench was unbearable. #3. LEASE If you do unfortunately decide to rent at Skyward Living, please only sign a 6 month lease. You will honestly regret taking a 12 month lease with all the issues you will encounter, I had gotten to know many of the tenants, all who wish they had signed a 6 month lease & can’t wait to get out of there. Also noteworthy, please email or voice record absolutely any conversations you have with the managers. Each of the managers follows different policies & ways. Not one of them are on the same page. Their number one priority is money & being aggressively sales-oriented. Don’t expect there to be any caring, compassion or empathy for the tenants #4. SECURITY DEPOSIT I cleaned my suite spotless and had 2 staff members check it before I vacated the suite & both said it looked great I even did the walk out inspection with manager ‘[name removed]” who signed off on the inspection report also checking off everything as okay. Still got charged a cleaning fee , so don’t waste your time & effort . In closing, Check out Northview REIT right across the street from Skyward Living. Beautiful, spacious apartments, rent is cheaper and they are also pet friendly but you will not find feces around their premises.
