60-yrs included 50-yrs running a High-Tech Information Firm. My wife suffered a stress related stroke in 2020 and I a US Navy service-disabled Veteran of Vietnam, realized a need to revise plans for retirement. We closed that High-Tech Info Firm! Our daughter (at Lake Tahoe) found Five-Star Assisted Living Facility for us. The 5-Star support staff has provided guidance for mending as proven by the past year! • Front desk (concierge & Mgmt.-Team) focal point to address & alert us of all. • Support staff included apartment-cleaning, laundry, etc. • Activities and staff to maintain our physical and mental fitness. • Fellow residents to share situations and desire to move forward with. • Result: “We Are Home” after 60 robust and cherished years together! All while participating in 5-Stars multiple-activities (i.e., Card games, Bingo, Exercise classes & sessions, seated volleyball, facts-for-fun, Technology assistance as needed, etc., etc.) and three well balanced meals of our choosing.

Dad mostly enjoys living at Premier 5 Star. The care is good when they have enough employees. They do have a problem keeping employees. They’ve been short staff for a long time. I believe it’s been going on 3 years. Due to the short staff the dining room is closed, so the food is delivered to the resident. The food arrives cold and unappetizing.

Response from Premier Reno
September 8, 2023Gae -- thanks for your feedback. While it is great to read that your dad enjoys life at Five Star Premier Residences of Reno, we always want to exceed the expectations of our residents and their families. Note that our Independent Living dining room is fully open and our Assisted Living dining room is currently open most days for breakfast and lunch. Residents are always able to go to either of the dining rooms, and we hope to continue our successful hiring push so both dining rooms can be open for all meals. My Food and Beverage Director and I would love to chat with you and your dad about his experiences and make sure he is aware of his dining options, and to ensure he is getting the wonderful meals he deserves. Please contact me at the community at your earliest convenience.
I enjoy the people who live and work here are nice. The food is varied. I attend the book club, and church services regularly. The drivers take me to and from the grocery store weekly. All the drivers are amicable. I would highly recommend this community to any senior looking for their next home!

Response from Premier Reno
September 6, 2023Claire, thank you for your kind words and your recommendation. We were touched to read you find everyone at Five Star Premier Residences of Reno to be so nice, and appreciate your special shout out for our transportation team.
I was here before covid times, so I was able to take advantage of all of the amenities that they offered. I did a lot of research and I found this to be the best convenient facility in the Reno area, it is right in town unlike some others. The staff members here were all very professional and I would recommend them to others who are looking.

This wasn't our first choice, our first choice had no room. This is working out okay though. The staff has been very nice. They seem to keep the people that want to be busy, doing stuff and being busy. It's clean, and the staff is friendly. They are a pretty nice place. They seem to put out good food. I am not a huge fan of the way the dining is set up though. There are only two meals included, you have to pay extra if you want to eat three times a day, and they don't have a salad bar. Other than that it's working out okay.

February 24, 2015Thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback. As you are aware we've just completed the renovation of our beautiful community and now look to “renovate” our meal program. Coming soon we will offer all day dining where instead of a buffet breakfast you can order your eggs any way you prefer late into the morning. You and your loved one will have two new dining venues that include the Piano lounge and Corner Café where you have the options of “grab and go” menu items at the café or grab a healthy salad or sandwich in the lounge. We appreciate your choice of living at Five Start Premier Residences of Reno and hope that you enjoy our improvements to our community and service. If I can help you in any way, please call me or stop by my office any time. Sincerely, Jim Cox, Executive Director.
My loved one was here for a short time, and for the most part this is a really great place. It was one of the nicest places we looked at, and there are some really great people there. Unfortunately there were a few issues that were handled very poorly by specific employees that prevented me from giving this place 5 stars. But the management really stepped up and let those concerned know that how they handled it was not acceptable, and that it wouldn't happen again.

Nice, older facility. Many on staff are nice and caring, but policy keeps them from providing all the support that resident may need. Fine place for fully functioning residents. Not great for folks needing more help. Not too helpful when residents are in transition. Did not respond well to family involvement, even though they said they wanted involvement. Words and actions did not match. I found we were overcharged for things (different than contract and written materials) and they were unwilling to correct $$ problems when they were pointed out.

A Place for Mom has scored Premier Reno 8.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
