Mum has been there for a number of years and the staff all know her and help watch out for her. I know she is safe and appreciated there.
My mother is very happy here though she does say the food could be improved immensely.
Our tour was conducted by [Removed] . He was knowledgeable and very helpful. We found several options which will hopefully be acceptable to our relative who has to make the move. The facility showed well. We will involve another family member tomorrow. Here's hoping.
We did not have a good experience here. The pricing wasn't made clear to us that this community was not run by the Veterans Administration and would not help out with the cost. It was not explained clearly to us that along with the room rent there were additional charges on top of it such as food delivery to his room, medication management, etc. The place is a dump, in my opinion, I have nothing positive to say about this experience.

Hello, my name is Katie, I work for Holiday, and while I am very sorry to hear these comments and reflection on your experience, I would like to sincerely thank you for sharing them with us. We want to make Kalama Heights the best possible place to retire, and can not do that without honest and sincere feedback such as yours. I am very sorry to hear your reflections on your experience, and am so sorry for any of the miscommunication that took place there. I am going to share this experience and feedback with our team so we can learn from this and improve, but apologize once again for your experience. Thank you so much for reaching out; we wish you the best of luck in your continued search for senior housing and of course welcome you back anytime should you care to take another look. --Katie
When I moved in to Kalama Heights a little over a year ago I assumed this was a no smoking facility as understood on the Residential Living Agreement on page 8, except for the two areas outside set aside as smoking areas. However this couple, who are here for 3 months I understand, defy these rules and continue to smoke in their apartment and the smoke goes under the door into the hallway bothering us who walk down the hallway. I have contacted, the manager many times, the Sales Leader, sent a complaint thru the kiosk, and Lyle from Honolulu from headquarters. They have told the couple to stop but they continue to do so. Are you going to let people continue to defy your rules which are made to protect us from harm? Even so I love it here warts and all, but I want fresh air.

Hello Nalani, my name is Katie and I work with Holiday here at the home office. I wanted to reach out and see if you were still experiencing this with your neighbors? If this is still proving to be an issue, our Resident Relations team, who can be reached at [removed], would love to step in and help. I've passed your message on to them, but would encourage you to reach out as well and provide any additional detail you are able to share! Thank you for reaching out and sharing this important feedback with us, we hope to work with you and achieve resolution on this matter!
I think it's great. The staff is just lovely. The food would be about a 7 out of 10. It really is a nice place, I think.
If this is a Holiday like [Removed]. I am not interested. I read the one review and see that the couple who was also diabetic had the same experience we had with the food, no exceptions, no special ordering. A far cry from the service at Thunderbird! I don't even want to try it. Too bad because I need a place on Maui for a wedding/my 65th birthday in early 2015.
We thought we'd like to live in Hawaii so went to Kalama Heights for about two weeks. The food wasn't all that great. My husband has diabetes so the food was important. We asked for cantaloupe and they gave him watermelon and said that they couldn't change the menu. The food wasn't that great there and that's why we decided not to stay there. Other than that the place was nice and the management was great. They wouldn't make any changes to the menu which we couldn't expect them too but in the end we just decided that wasn't the right place for us.
