This facility doesn't have activities or bus service. The exercise room is very small and only one person can go at a time. On the inside of the courtyard they have rotten wood and this causes bees and insect issues. we need more lighting in the courtyard also. The elevators can get stuck for 3-4 hours and people get panicked. The closets are smaller than advertised. The community residence is nice and we take care of each other. We now have new management and they are listening to our issues and doing all they can to make things better.

I have lived at Hillside Senior Apartment Homes in Gaithersburg, MD since January this year. The communication, helpfulness, and professionalism from the current manager, [name removed] and her assistant [name removed] has been outstanding. The manager has big socialization plans for Hillside residents when the pandemic is over. The management is always attentive to any concerns I have. I highly recommend this community for those who are searching for safe, quality living.

Went to visit a friend who is living at these wonderful apartments in Montgomery County for Seniors. First thing I noticed was how clean and bright everything is as someone suggested on here. I agree. Then, I made sure to observe residents asking questions at the office and how the office staff treated them. I read a not-so-good review about the office, so I wanted to observe for myself. It isn’t true from what I could see. The office seemed very open, responsive, respectful and attentive to their residents’ requests. This is very important. The apartments are very nice inside with everything new, and the bathrooms have the safety bars. The floor to ceiling windows are quite lovely. I wonder how often they will clean the windows in the future from the outside as they are big? Residents have a dedicated courtyard that I imagine many would take daily strolls around. There are a group of homes in another community one side of these senior apartments that look stable and quiet, but the shopping strip area is not so appealing. I give this apartment 5 stars because of its price, its location in proximity to major highways, transportation via bus about one block away, grocery across street, clean areas, amenities such as the courtyard for strolls, pool, library, computer, conference room, exercise room, laundry, optional activities etc. I like learning that the elevators have their own generator, so if you are on the upper floors you can always get down. Finding a community that share common interests is a good thing for Senior Citizens. Last things- there seems to be some great cooks here as I’ve seen a few shared dishes among them and some friendly good-hearted folks. Finally- these folks have some of the cutest (but fierce) little dogs here. Nice place. 5 Star, (but that does not mean perfect).

Overall a very nice place. The facilities are excellent, the community is in great shape, and the staff engages with the tenants. Plus they provide access to external service provides who serve seniors. The only concern is that there is no controlled access. Overall however this is a strong option for my mother.

There are just few places for seniors who want a nice residence in the busy robust Washington, DC area without paying an arm and a leg! So when I discovered Hillside Senior Apts in Gaithersburg, MD, I could not believe it. No huge security deposit and move-in specials. Also, another reviewer stated this and its true, it doesn't have that "nursing home" feel or look. It used to be a Hilton Extended Hotel, so it has an outdoor entrance to each unit, incredible lobby, coffee station and outdoor area with huge pool and lots of outdoor lounge chairs with padded cushions. The apartments are huge when you compare them to newer ones. I would love to upgrade the carpet as I prefer thicker, but thick rugs would work. All utilities are included. That is something special to not have to worry about paying for utilities. The manager and all staff seems kind. Residents are friendly, some are busy working and others are more relaxed. Diverse resident population from retired engineer, retired teachers to working residents, retired home owners, and folks seeking a good deal, etc. Laundry is my only complaint, because you have to take your laundry down to the laundry room. The laundry room is nice, however, with sofa and TV. Grocery store, Weiss, is across the street and few other minor stores, DMV and Exxon. I do prefer Giant, Whole Foods or Safeway, but they are not in the immediate area, so its ok. Right off of I-95 and Frederick Road is about a block down where you could take a bus. Subway very close by. Community on one side of the apartment building seems established and quiet. I really like the residents that I have met so far. Because the building is practically full, security is not a huge worry as no one is isolated to themselves. If someone need emergency care, the medical team (ambulance) don't have to wait to enter the building as they can immediately access your unit from outside.

The experience at Hillside is friendly, profeeesional and supportive. I moved here a few weeks ago and found the living space beautiful, liveable and clean. Big cheery windows, quiet surroundings despite it's location near major transport arteries. Everyone here is helpful and when maintenance is required, more than responsive. This place will fill up fast.
