This facility is nice, it serves it's purpose. The staff does a good job, some better than others. Mom is ok with the food, says some meals are better than others. But that it's ok overall. Housekeeping is once a week and they do a good job. Communication with the family is actually pretty good. I would recommend to friends and family with similar care needs as an option.... Read more

I don't believe that they watched my loved one closely enough while here. She was consistently falling. The ambulance had to come pick her up. Take her to the hospital. My mom seemed to fall a lot there, the new facility she is at now, my mom has zero falls.

I had a great tour experience with Hacienda Del Ray. The facility and staff were very nice. It is clean and well kept. It is more of a secure place and I think it is for those who have more advanced care needs which is why we did not choose them. If your loved one has more care needs though it looked like a great place!

We had a nice experience at Hacienda Del Ray. Everything was wonderful. The staff were really nice and always took good care of my mom. And they would call me if there was any situation I needed to know about.

Response from Hacienda Del Rey
September 15, 2022Thank you for sharing your experience. We're so pleased to hear that our dedicated team members and commitment to open communications have given you the assurance that your mom is being well cared for. Thank you for placing your trust in us.
I looked at a lot of places and they just didn't compare. If there's a problem, you need to get together with the staff and make it a group effort moving forward. There was an issue initially and I opened up by suggesting that we have a meeting to brainstorm on how to make it better. So, I would say that it's important to communicate as communication is upmost. The community is safe, but I wish there were a little more shaded areas outside. I would desirable the staff as very caring and open. There is always room for improvement in the food. They need to ask for more feedback from their residents and the residents families because a lot of residents aren't capable of communicating for themselves, which is my situation.

Directors and staff made working through the process with them completely effortless. The questions you answer to help them integrate your loved one are thought-provoking and super helpful. When we arrived to settle mom into her space everyone was there to welcome us and let us know how much they were looking forward to working with her. Even the current residents were open and welcoming. They made a place for mom at the table. Because we settled mom and then had to leave the country for previously scheduled travel, we were not able to check in on some of the things that this survey asks. However, even as we were gone, the team at Hacienda Del Rey worked with us remotely through phone calls and emails and made the transition very smooth. The best thing about this transition to Hacienda del Rey is that mom is feeling so connected with her new "family" in her Casita. Previously she had been in an independent living apartment as part of a larger community. However, the casita arrangement is so much better for building a family of residents in an intimate setting. She told us this week that she is so happy! That makes this process easier to deal with.

My loved one is blind and I don't think the kitchen staff doesn't know how to work with a blind resident. I think her food could be cut up smaller, and to tell her what is on her plate, etc. It is a good place to have someone. I don't feel they have enough staff to care for the residents right now. I have been called before to help calm down my loved one. I think the staff need more training for caring of non sited residents (blind). She needs to be told location of the foods like the turkey is at 9 o'clock, green beans at 6 o'clock, roll at 3 o'clock. This will help her navigate her meals, etc.

I have lived at Del Rey for a short time, 2.5 months. But in this time I have come to realize this is not just a place to be but is home. The staff are all caring and make you feel at home.

I toured this place along with several others. I was really impressed with the cleanliness, staff, programming food etc.. It was definitely a place I would choose for me if I had to. I choose Hacienda Del Rey for my mother. She is happy with the amenities and staff.

December 29, 2021Thank you for choosing Hacienda Del Rey for your mother. It's our pleasure to be o service to you both.
My mother is 96 and deals with low vision, poor hearing and moderate dementia. I knew she needed more care and moved her from CA. It was a tough but HDR has been extremely helpful . Mom is well cared for. She is clean, her clothes are clean, she's well fed and her needs are met. Changes and concerns are brought to my attention quickly.

In early 2020, we searched city wide for a memory care facility for my mother. Hacienda Del Rey stood out as the best "by far." After moving Mom to Hacienda in March, 2020 she immediately settled in as if she's always been there. When she has medical issues the staff calls me and discusses treatment options. While she was battling covid-19 the staff called me daily and helped us to video chat with Mom during quarantine. It was very clear to our entire family that the care takers treat her as their grandmother. One specific moment that we will never forget was when we were visiting Mom through the window during quarantine and talking through the window on the phone. Mom was using the caretaker's personal phone and as we spoke, the girl was twirling Mom's hair with her finger like she would with a loved one of her own. She made Mom feel so warm and comfortable even though she could not understand why we were separated by a window. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place.

This was a nice community.
The community communicates very well. The staff are amazing! They really care for the residents here. My loved one doesn't like the food, as it doesn't have a lot of variety, and sometimes the food isn't exactly what the community says it is.

When we try to get ahold of people here with questions, they always answer the phone and are responsive. My loved one is very happy here, especially after the place she was in previously. A couple of her friends from the last place even moved with her. It's very clean here. The food is actually pretty good. They're really proud of it, and they have a chef who cooks most of the food in-house. Our loved one isn't participating in a lot of the activities, but they're at least offering them.

We chose Hacienda Del Ray because it had more of a home-like feeling because they are separated into 9 casibas with 8-9 bedrooms. Then they have a kitchen dining and living room area in each one, so it is an easier transition coming from a house. My mom needed memory care as well and they placed her with other residents who had similar needs. They are great with communication, we get emails, texts, newsletters, etc. They always keep us up date on everything. We are very happy with our choice.

I am very happy with Hacienda Del Rey. We chose this facility because of the cleanliness, it is only a 2 years old. Everything is very modern and up to date and it does not smell at all. They have different sections as well and then a main area where residents can meet, I like the way it is set up. The rooms sizes here are a little on the smaller side for the price. The administrative staff is great, they are good with communication whether it is emails or phone calls and they also have a lot of patience. My dad said during the week when the regular chef is cooking the food is great, but during the weekend they change chefs and it is not as good. I would recommend them to others looking.

Loved [name removed]. The price was a bit high for a studio with communal shower. It is just not a good fit. We lived the feeling of the place and staff though.
