Bad Experience! Regret taking my mom there!!
Don’t believe anything on the website! It is not resort-style living as stated on the website! An activity calendar is posted each month in the Memory Care Unit w/daily activities. I made a point of being there when activities were scheduled. No activities were done on a daily basis. Memory care residents are lucky if they do an activity once or twice a month. Residents are not stimulated physically, emotionally or mentally. Residents are seated in front tv all day w/crime shows and MTV playing. Food is awful. Not a balanced diet. No restaurant-style dining as stated on the website! Residents can’t even get a cup of coffee in the afternoon. When my mother was sick vomiting, there was not even a soft drink in the building. I had to get in the car & go buy soft drink & cup of coffee several times. Website states there is a beautiful patio area. It’s 3-4 rusted chairs and weeds! BEWARE of this facility! Administration doesn’t get back to you about concerns. They don’t care!

Review of Granville House
To Whom it may concern, I recently went with my mother to visit one of her friends that resides at the Granville House, 200 Coventry Dr. Oxford, NC 27565, which is listed as a Assisted Living Facility. By the definition of assisted living : a system of housing and limited care that is designed for senior citizens who need some assistance with daily activities but do not require care in a nursing home – often hyphenated when used attributively an assisted-living facility// an assisted-living facility. I found it hard to believe that I was in an assisted living facility. The halls and common room looked like and felt like a nursing home. The residents appear to need more care than should be in a assisted living facility. The rooms did not feel home like either. I had to keep reminding myself I was in a facility that was not a nursing home. [Personal information removed]. If a resident has a food allergy or they do not like what is being served they have no other option. It would be nice to at least offer two options. Whether being allergic or a dislike to what is being served there is nothing substituted for her or any other resident. She has even brought in her own food to be kept in the kitchen so that she would have something when she can’t eat what is being served. When asked about it, there isn’t any knowledge of any such food brought in. [Personal information removed]. There was also several employees that had their children with them in the facility. I feel that this is a liability to your company, the residents and the children themselves. I was there on a Saturday in September and I realize that daycare may be a problem for many employees, and if this is the case then there should be arrangements made for the employees to have daycare on the premises but not in the same area of the residents. Why am I writing about this? Because I feel that there is an unjust treatment and representation going on here. If the Granville House is truly an Assisted Living Facility most of the resident that are there do not belong there. They need to have more nursing care than what an assisted living offers. The few that are truly able to live with just a little assistance are subjected to activity and behavior that belongs in a more closely watched facility. An important thing to remember here is that the residents are paying to be in your facility, it is their home and deserve to have a “home like feeling” living there. I know I would. Sincerely, [name removed]

A Place for Mom has scored Granville House 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
