What we like most about the Garden Way Place is that probably 95% of the staff members working there work really well with our loved one and with our family. They have a great line of communication as well as great quality of care. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

The Addison of Garden Way Place, a Senior Lifestyle community, is an assisted living community with a big heart located just two blocks west of Hillcrest Memorial Park. Thanks to their inviting, family-like nature, there’s a friendly face everywhere you turn. Helping residents feel right at home right away, their cheerful staff are available around the clock to provide personal assistance with any needs that may arise, as well as rehabilitation services, medication management, and respite care. Spacious dining rooms provide plenty of options for dietician-approved meals and generous gathering areas offer inviting space to stretch out and relax. Residents can also stay active and social by joining an excursion into town or participating in any of their numerous community-wide activities, like music programs, ice cream socials, and bowling.

Great Place for Mom and/or Dad
When touring this facility we found the staff and management to be very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. When we returned with mom to tour Garden Way she too really like this place. We had 3 places lined up to tour and she made the decision that here is where she wanted to be. Since she has moved in the staff takes really good care of mom. Very friendly to us when visiting. She has a cleaning person come in once a week to clean her apartment, they do laundry daily and her laundry is always done for her only. No mixing of clothing bedding ect. The only time when she was happy with the place is when they all were quarantined. She was wanting to be social. And they do have a lot of events. Very accommodating to the residents and actually the family.

My overall experience was good, they were clean and the staff were kind and helpful. I only had one concern and that was when the chef had MRSA but was still there cooking.

Our Tour Experience
Our impression of Garden Way Place was that it was friendly and clean. It would have been fine. Cost ended up being a factor, plus they didn’t have any openings at the time. It was a smaller facility. But the gentleman who showed us around was very pleasant.

A home away from home
Overall, I think it's one of the better homes in our area. There was one we ranked a little higher, but we rank Garden Way Place higher than the majority of the rest, in our book. The staff that we've interacted with have been very friendly. There are a group of ladies who get together in the afternoon to do crafts and puzzles and things, and I think our love done enjoys that. Since Covid, they haven't been letting in outside services like physical therapy, which they said they would when we interviewed before moving in. Some their internal services have been curtailed as well. It's not their fault, but nevertheless it's made things difficult.

Management is very considerate of people's needs. The are almost always available to talk. They go over board to make you feel "at home."
The staff reflects the positive attitude of management. They show they care about the residents. I would name names, but I'm afraid I would leave someone out.
My father is the resident, 98 yrs old, needs some assistance and is a WWII vet. They treat him like royalty. He lost his wife (my mother) of 75 years last October, they were very close. But as his short term memory is fading the staff fills in for that loss and makes him very comfortable.

A community with care and value
This is a nice community for the care that we need. The staff are caring and attentive to the needs of my wife. I like knowing that the community is clean and they offer a good variety of meals. They do have alot of activites that are offer. We would recommend this community for the care of a loved one.

Filthy stinky rooms and poor care
Very dirty bedroom. Smell of human and dog urine and feces. No sheets on bed. Mattress covered in pee both dog and human. Furniture filthy. Staff very rude. No notifications when relative went to hospital until their DEATH. Not a very good place. Would not take my dog there.

Not What We Needed At The Moment...
The Garden Way Place was okay. The main area where the residents had to hang out was quite small. Most of them were watching tv while I was on my tour. The place was too restricted and it just was not what we were looking for at the time.

Overall it's clean and the people are friendly. We don't have any major complaints. There is a bit of a learning curve, what you can and can't have, just how everything works. The activities are wonderful, I wish my loved one would participate a little more, but they do make the effort.

Garden Way Place is a clean community!
The management is not easy to work with. The staff however were pleasant. My dad had a hard time making friends and socializing because the memory care residents were not kept separate. The community didn't promote socialization or activities among the residents.

Very pleased with Garden Way in Hermitage, PA
We are very pleased with Garden Way. My mother was a resident of Garden Way (then Bently House) in 2006/2007. We were able to decorate her apartment with furniture from her house.. The staff was always very caring and attentive. They tried very hard to make her feel at home and loved. I have 3 other siblings and they also feel the same. One or more of us were at Garden Way on a daily basis so we were always aware of the good job that they did.
Now my mother-in-law has been a resident of Garden Way since August of 2014 and the same good level of care continues for her also. My husband was told by a previous nursing home who provided therapy that his mom would never walk again because of her dementia. But within less than a month at Garden Way she was up and walking.
We will continue to recommend Garden Way.
