About the facility Deer Ridge Memory Care
About 45 minutes out of Seattle, Deer Ridge offers the ideal environment for memory care. The community is surrounded by a shroud of Washington’s famous evergreen trees, offering plenty of area for residents to enjoy some peace and fresh air. Deer Ridge features a classic exterior with craftsman-style features including stone and wooden elements. Traditionally decorated, the common areas and halls offer a familiar, yet refreshing atmosphere.
The location offers many conveniences. Residents can shop for goods at the South Hill Mall, enjoy local restaurants in the area, stroll parks, or attend year-round events at Washington State Fair Events Center. For residents who want entertainment without leaving, Deer Ridge offers plenty. Residents can utilize the community’s club room, living room, dining room, interior courtyard, and so much more.
The community offers a wellness program that helps residents connect and enjoy a purposeful life through seven pillars: music, art, nature, spirit, mind and body, friends and family, and community. Do Not Recommend For Alzheimer's Patients
It is not a place for someone with Alzheimer's. My husband needed help with everything. We were told not to worry, he would be well cared for. He went to Deer Ridge on [dates removed]. He was hospitalized in May for ten days with an urinary tract infection, sepsis, pneumonia, oxygen in the 80's, high fever, etc. After ten days, he went back to Deer Ridge on hospice. He then went to the ER with an inflamed bladder the end of June. He had three urinary tract infections while there. We we were told they knew how to care for Alzheimer's patients. We found that is not true. There were times he was left wet for hours. Missed meals. Didn't always get his medicines or antibiotics. If you refuse medicines three times, you don't get them. Someone from family was there everyday. We were his advocates, but with all the sickness, his body could not take it any longer. This month would have been our 65 wedding anniversary.

Tour Experience
The woman who was showing us around did a fabulous job. The rooms were much smaller here than some others we looked at. The facility itself was also small. It was a nice place but not the right fit for us.

Number one place for memory care
This facility is absolutely the best that they could be. I have nothing but praise for them, the care, and the staff. If it weren't for this place, I don't know what I'd do. Communication with the family is very good. They were so helpful when I first moved my friend in, also. She was angry for having to be placed in a facility and didn't want to speak to me for awhile. The staff really supported me and helped me through that. They also kept me updated about her during that time, which was just wonderful and so helpful. This place is definitely a place that specializes in Memory Care and does it well. I visit often and they know me by name and know who I'm there to see. They couldn't be nicer or more helpful. I would absolutely recommend them to family and friends.

Positive Overall
I think they're going through some growing pains as a new facility. They've had some staffing issues and a shortage of caregivers, but overall it's a nice place. It's very friendly and very open. They have multiple areas where the residents can walk around. There are lots of things going on and people moving about. It has been a learning process figuring out how to best support my loved one there and the staff there. I visited several other places with a lot less residents and felt like this would be a better fit for my loved one. We'll see how things go as the challenges of dementia progress over time.

We never had a meal there ourselves but the always looked to be really good and our loved one always liked to walk the track. Based on what we were able to experience we would recommend them to other families.

Perfect place for mom
My mom has been in Deer Ridge since December and she continues to receive the highest level of care there. The facilities are beautiful and the staff members are excellent- they are always patient and helpful, keeping us well informed of any updates to her care. I enjoy visiting my mom there and often stay for one of the activities or to share a meal with her. It's such peace of mind, knowing she's safe and well taken care of when I can't be there.

If You're Looking for Memory Care in Washington State I Highly Recommend Deer Ridge
I highly recommend Deer Ridge Memory Care. The staff are caring, and personal towards the residents and families. The staff were good at keeping me up-to-date with anything going on with my loved one. They would call if there were any concerns. Anytime I would visit the staff would come check on my loved one to make sure they were doing well.
The community is beautiful. The director to the housekeeper to the chef are excellent to work with.
