About the community

Coburg Village independent living retirement community, blends a lovely balance of originality, with an eye towards the changing future and needs. Our Independent Living Community opened in Rexford, NY in September 1999, however our roots provide us a rich 135-year history of providing services for seniors of all faiths. Having just celebrated our 20th Anniversary, Coburg Village, a mission-based organization, is one of The Capital Region of NYS’s most sought after retirement communities.
Many active, older adults happily call our 55+ independent living community, situated on a 26 acre campus in a beautiful park-like setting, with no buy in or entrance fee, their home. The community expanded in 2013 from just the original design as demand for these beautiful, large floor-plan, amenity-full apartments increased and 78 new apartments were added, all featuring screened in walk-out patios. A beautiful Parisian styled bistro, expanded fitness area including a salt-water pool and Jacuzzi, as well as an interfaith chapel and state-of-the art theatre/auditorium where a wide variety of entertainment options and cultural engagement opportunities abound was also been added.

Sad Daughter - My loved one(s) live(s) or lived in this community
Don't move to Coburg

When my mother moved to Coburg 12 years ago it was FANTASTIC. The food was great. There were a TON of off campus activities (for an extra fee, of course) and special events. The campus and individual living areas were meticulously maintained. The residents had a voice and ANY problems they had were immediately addressed. I can not, in good conscience, recommend Coburg to new residents. The food now is no better than rubber chicken dinner/cafeteria grub. Complaints/requests go unanswered. There are no special events and very few "off campus" activities are even offered these days, at any price. The best thing about Coburg is that there is no buy-in to live there, so you can leave as soon as your lease is up without losing $50k+ Bottom line...Coburg Village used to be great and now it's just an over-priced nursing home with no nursing care.

Dear Sad Daughter- Firstly I am so sorry that you had this experience. I am new to The Marketing Team at Coburg Village and this is unfortunately my first time seeing this review. I am hopeful that many of these issues were resolved, as this is an older review, I am not sure what your situation is now as it relates to Coburg Village. Should you wish to contact me at [removed], and I'd be happy to discuss your experience further and do appreciate your feedback. Thank you!

Coburg village is my home

This is a friendly and welcoming place. The food is outstanding. When you enter one of the four dining areas you are encouraged to join others. There is entertainment at least three nights per week. Swimming pool, putting green and bocci just a few of the activities. Very spacious grounds beautifully landscaped. Apartments have all the amenities to make your senior years comfortable.

Nice place to live.

My mom was a resident for just over a year and a half. She really enjoyed it an I was comfortable knowing that if she didn't show for a meal they would check on her. Unfortunately she developed some health issues that were beyond the scope of the care there and had to move to assisted living. We had dinner there a couple of times and I enjoyed lunch in the bistro with her.
