Brookdale Santa Fe
The facility is just a little dated, but they have a new dining hall that is beautiful.
The quality of care is very good, but they are a little bit understaffed.
They all tried very hard to make us feel welcome. They have been very good in answering questions about billing as we close our accounts.

The facility is just a little dated, but they have a new dining hall that is beautiful.

overall a very nice and welcoming community
There are more expensive retirement / assisted living places in our area but the residents are not as happy from what I understand. So far, based on the experience we have had so far with Brookdale Santa Fe we would recommend this community to other families.

Tour experience
Brookdale Santa Fe had some construction going on during our tour and so we couldn't tour the dining area, but the staff rep was very engaging and welcoming, gave us a great tour otherwise. Information was generously given, features highlighted (library, gym, salon, etc.), financial information covered clearly and complimentary delicious and healthful meals. We left feeling very positive about the whole experience.

It's a great place for a loved one. We picked this community, because of the central location, price wise it was the middle of three and something my loved one could afford. My loved one chooses to participate in bingo and movies although I am aware of shopping and other trips offered.

Brookdale was awesome - the staff members were kind, understanding, professional, accommodating and fair. The facility is very clean and great quality of care. We couldn't be in better hands while my mom was in hospice...she was only there 5 days. It was a good experience

What really stood out to us about this facility is that it's a small community. The staff got to know my mom very quickly. It's a very clean facility. They have activities and encourage the residents to participate. I would recommend them to family and friends.

Tour experience
The staff that we interacted with were all very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere here had more of a dark and older feel to it. When you walk in the facility it is smaller and quickly led to hallways. My loved one likes bright, open and airy - so this was just not going to be the right fit for us.

I just want to say, thank you for having [name removed] in the assisted living-dining room. [name removed] is always so organized and keeps track of dietary needs. She seems to be very efficient in managing the dining room. She does it all with a smile on her face. We are glad, she is there to care for our mom.

Stunning
Visited Community for my Mother and absolutely fell in love with the Lush courtyard full of roses and aspen trees. All staff was wonderful our tour was exceptional full of education Sales Manger Victoria is knowledgeable in Senior living and is able to really give families comfort and support during an overwhelming and difficult journey .

Don't go here
My loved one was here for 14 days. They did not care for my loved one and would not cover her when she was cold and now she is gone. I feel like they should have not accepted my loved one if they could not take care of her. We paid for the highest level of care and my loved one did not get that from this community. The aids were not very friendly when they did finally come to help my loved one. it is just tough to get good help these days. Personally I would not recommend this community.

Facilities are in need of a refresh which appears to be underway on the exterior. The interior and rooms are in good shape for a 30+ year building. The staff and residents are all in good spirits and seem very active. The menu is rather mediocre.

Dad is happy
They seem to be real personable with my dad at this community. They know how to communicate with him very well, he responds to them. The staff is very nice and exceptional. He loves the food and having 3 meals a day. He gets involved with the daily activities like the movies and the field trips, they even have a dance party he likes to go to. It is clean in here and they clean his room 1x a week. It has a beautiful courtyard area. I would recommend this community.

Brookdale Santa Fe, a wonderful place for our 96 year old Mother
My 96 year old Mother, who moved from her owned condo in Texas, has been a happy assisted living resident at Brookdale Santa Fe since September, 2014. The attentive staff, which dresses her in the AM and readies her for bed in the PM, treats her very respectfully, including helping her apply make-up and with her hair, bathing, bathroom assistance, etc. (she is wheel chair bound). [Name removed], Housekeeping Director, sees to it that Mom's apartment is well maintained and clean. My Family (and especially Mom) enjoy the well-prepared meals and service (under the expert guidance of [name removed], the dining services manager). [Name removed] even prepared a sumptuous high tea, including the use of antique tea cups and special decorations for Mom and her friends one afternoon. Under the direction of Executive Director [name removed], RN and Assisted Living Director [name removed], RN, the Brookdale facility has thrived. Since [name removed] took over the job as Executive Director, many positive changes have been made, including the addition, in the spring of 2017, of [name removed], RN. Coincidentally, one of our friend's Mother was an assisted living resident at Brookdale Santa Fe for over 15 years and our Mom lives in the same apartment as she did. We are a hands on family and since we are at the facility several times a week, we have first hand experience with the level of service at Brookdale Santa Fe and are pleased with our decision to relocate Mom to Brookdale and to Santa Fe.

This place is very depressing
I toured here when looking for a place for my mom and it was a lot more depressing, in our minds. The halls were covered, kind of like a hotel, and the rooms weren’t that nice. There was also a smell. It was overall a bit darker and dingier. The price was cheaper which makes sense. They do have a very pretty garden, though. The woman that showed us around was really nice and was able to answer questions. They sent us home with a pie, but it wasn’t great.

The facility is kind of TOO big
I really liked [Removed], she was so friendly and helpful and accommodating. She spent an hour or so with me just touring around. I liked the facility a lot but the room that my dad would’ve used was very far down the hall and away from most of the activities that were going on. The kitchen in the apartment was not very accommodating for moving around in a wheelchair and the counters were really high. The room was kind of dark and lonely, I just didn’t like it. The common areas and the dining room was wonderful, the facility itself was just big and sprawling.

HAPPILY AT HOME
I have been an Independent Living resident of Brookdale Santa Fe for eight years. As an artist and author, I have an active life outside of the residence in the Santa Fe community at large. I, therefore, do not interact on a regular basis with other residents, though I know faces and some names with which to exchange smiles, greetings, and small conversation. And I do not participate in the activities offered by the residence. Nor do I eat in the dining room; I pick up my meals to eat in my apartment at my own hours. My true friends here are the staff. They are purely wonderful--warm, personable, helpful. I would particularly like to comment on the food. Dining room/kitchen directors [Removed] go to great efforts to present not only healthful but interesting cuisine to their diners, working continuously to improve existing recipes and create new ones--not only standard "American" and New Mexican fare, but selections from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. It is not easy to come up with a lunch including entrée, salad, side, soup, and dessert, and a dinner including two entrees, two sides, two desserts for 150 persons 365 days a year. But [Removed] do it on a level that could compete with many commercial restaurants.
