I would tell others that they have a very large staff turnover here. I think they could hire a real chef and it would help improve the food quality. Overall I would recommend others to take tour before moving in, they have had an awful lot of structural repairs on the facility lately.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us regarding your tour. We are sorry to hear Brookdale didn't fit your needs. We will share your feedback with our management team.
Brookdale Central Whittier is pretty good. The communication is good with the staff. The visits are outside and Brookdale Central Whitier are allowing virtual visits with your loved one.
We chose this facility at the time because she was at a Brookedale in CA, so we wanted to stay with this company. The reason we ended up moving her was because there were only 2 staff members that were actively there and there were easily 30 residents or more. It is a larger facility than the one in CA, but they still needed more staff. It seemed to be more of an independent living facility rather than assisted living. I was not satisfied with the way they tracked her medication either, when I moved her they did not keep accurate records so the new facility did not have any to go off you.
We chose Brookdale Central Whittier because it seemed at the point that they were meeting out overall needs of overseeing the care that she was going to need. The sales consultant and director and were open and warm and made it very inviting. They have had a significant change in staff members from when we first started. We have run into issues with the quality of food since the pandemic and staff seems to not be paying as close as attention to things. When they were between directors, there was a very good director keeping things in check and he started a weekly call with families so we are able to dial into a zoom session every Friday to keep up with what is going on inside the facility. I am not sure if I could recommend this facility at this time.
Really liked the tour because it helped me with some decisions and this is my first tour. I now know I would like a place with a small population, such as Brookdale Central Whittier has. Like the 2-story with balcony and the variety of stores available on Washington that can walk to.
Outstanding. Taking care of my mom
When looking for a facility for my Mother, I wanted something close to me and this one is only 5 minutes away! It is a smaller community so it’s easier for my mom to remember where everything is. All of the staff members are really nice and they know my mom by name. The transition for her was a little rough in the beginning but the staff is able to be more personal and that made all the difference. This community is pet friendly and there is no odor to the building at all. I would recommend this facility to other families.
We really liked the Brookdale Central Whittier when we toured the community. It was a very beautiful facility. Very warm and inviting. The staff was very friendly. My loved one was not ready to move at this time, but this would be one we will look at again in the future.
My mother has recently made the move into this community and so far things are going well. The staff have been helpful in the transition and have made sure to accommodate her needs to the best of there ability. I like the fact that they keep in good communication with me about her care and make sure to answer any questions I have for them. Overall it has been a great place so far for her.
