Temperatures rise gradually as you head south toward the coast, where the white sandy beaches of Gulf Shores attract millions of visitors throughout the year. Cities like Biloxi and Birmingham have been experiencing a recent population growth due to their Southern charm, pleasant weather, and relatively low costs of living, all factors which help make Alabama an ideal retirement destination.
The median monthly cost of a care home in Alabama is about $2,200. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly.

My parents moved into Kirkwood by the River 9 years ago and I've NEVER had a complaint about anything. This is the best run and kindest retirement place anyone could ever find. The entire staff are kind, thoughtful, patient and courteous. A wonderful place in a great setting with Christian beliefs and attitude!!Read more
My mom was real skeptical moving into an assisted living facility. Our family thought it best to try and find a small place that would feel like home to her. It took some time to adjust from living alone, but today she loves it. I have seen such improvements from her mood to her physical appearance. They take such great care of her and I know she is in good hands.Read more
We chose Peachtree because she has severe heart problems and it was only 3 minutes away from my sisters house. She is in independent living but they also have assisted living available. They have been good with communication and send me weekly updates which I really appreciate. The meals are chef prepared and you get a choice off of a limited menu. It is a bright, clean, friendly facility and they have a lot of things to keep the residents occupied. They have local transportation as well so for someone looking for something in independent living, this is the perfect place. I would recommend them.Read more
