Assisted living communities provide a sense of community as well as individualized care. The types of service provided often include help with ADLs. These provisions include medication supervision and administration, reminding a resident to maintain his/her medication schedule in accordance with the prescription, and proper training of direct care workers to handle and administer medications. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as The service plan must be updated annually and following a significant change in health status, service plan identifies the individual's specific needs for care, service plan identifies the individual's need for activities, and The home must complete a service plan in cooperation with each resident and/or their representative. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 21.
