Arizona has a number of provisions associated with this type of community. The Division of Public Health Licensing Services, Bureau of Residential communities Licensing licenses this community type. Public assistance is available through Arizona Long-Term Care System (ALTCS).This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include medication procurement, monitoring of self-administration, and medication administration. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include ensure the safety of residents who may wander, behavioral health services, ancillary services, and personal care services. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to assure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as the amount, type, and frequency of services that will be provided to the resident, The level of service the resident is expected to receive, and initial comprehensive mental and physical assessment. Staff are required to receive education in a variety of subjects. These areas include in-service education, orientation that is specific to duties, cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults, and first-aid. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must comply with therapeutic diets specified in their service plan, communities must provide meals and snacks in accordance with federal dietary guidelines, and meals must meets the nutritional needs of residents.
