New Review Score Improves the Quality, Quantity, and Recency of Community Reviews on aplaceformom.com

NEW YORK (May 23, 2023) – A Place for Mom (APFM), the leading online platform and trusted advisory service for senior care in North America, announced that its powerful online reviews program is getting even better, rolling out several enhancements to help senior living communities showcase their value and better serve families, who rely on verified reviews to make a confident senior living decision.

In addition to the current one-to-five-star review ratings from residents and families featured on aplaceformom.com, a new 10-point Review Score will give caregivers a quick way to assess feedback on each community in their search. According to A Place for Mom, families are six times more likely to move into communities with recent reviews on aplaceformom.com, and 75 percent of moves are to communities with reviews less than six months old.

“Finding the right senior care is a huge life decision, and as families tour communities, they are actively gathering input. Online reviews are critical in the decision-making process, and we’re proud to publish over 45,000 reviews annually seen by over four million families visiting our website,” said Larry Kutscher, CEO at A Place for Mom. “These enhancements to our reviews program drive further transparency into the senior living industry, providing critical information that helps both families and communities while also showing on listings for our advisors.”

A Place for Mom has significantly upgraded its capabilities and tools for capturing online reviews. Rebuilding its Reputation Portal for communities, A Place for Mom has created a new easy-to-use hub to manage and request family reviews across email, Facebook, and WhatsApp, order postcards to distribute to residents, and display award recognition.

“Verified online community reviews power the families’ decision, and the right quality, quantity, and recency of reviews drives more move-ins for our community customers,” added Sue Johansen, Executive Vice President, Community Network at A Place for Mom. “The new portal makes it easy to capture high-quality reviews for the communities in our network, and we have programs in place to train communities on maximizing value from the portal.”

A Place for Mom’s Review Score on community listings across aplaceformom.com is a simple calculation consisting of the average rating of all family and resident reviews plus additional points for the highest positive reviews of four or more stars aligned to the overall size of the community. Review Scores will show prominently on listings for senior living communities accessed by its 600+ advisors and will also contribute to where communities rank as families search on aplaceformom.com.

Only reviews in the past 24 months from families of residents and residents in the communities count toward the Review Score. Communities are encouraged to generate as many reviews as possible to impact their overall score and can access the Reputation Portal to see their current score. Rollout of the new Review Score begins June 1, 2023. To request additional information or for any questions, email customers@aplaceformom.com.
