Our Families Experience

To make this easy. All categories I'm giving a 5(best). Everyone who works there is professional, helpful, respectful and beyond nice. No matter when my mom or myself go there (at different) times the place is spotless, residents are happy as is staff. They welcome the families to visit at anytime even during meal times. They go above and beyond with the care as they treat each resident as their parent or grandparent. I have never had a doubt about Forest Haven.

Highly Recommended

The staff was very friendly to family and to the residents. All of them would talk to me about my mom's day and what she was doing. I never felt unwelcome there. Family was always able walk into the facility, stop at front desk to check in and they knew where my mom was right away. The facility smelled clean and looked clean. There was never an overwhelming smell of wall plug in air fresheners trying to cover up odors. Windows would be open for fresh air, residents could go on the patio when they wanted. Forest Haven allowed residents to sit outside in the front when they wanted, not when the whole herd had to go out. Truly a feeling of a home. It seemed like there was always a housekeeping staff member cleaning around the common areas and cleaning resident's rooms. The meals were appetizing. They also have a kitchen with healthy snacks, when wanted. My mom was not able to participate in the activities, but they always did have her in the area where activities were taking place. The staff was very observant. Shortly after my mom was moved to Forest Haven, I was approached by nursing staff and was told they felt she needed to be put on hospice. This was never mentioned by the other place she was at...all I ever heard was how she was fine. I would highly recommend Forest Haven for a comfortable, positive home for a loved one. They were wonderful people!

Forest Haven really is a Haven

I had toured a lot of different places when I finally found Forest Haven and I am so happy that I did. The staff here is so friendly, knowledgeable about what they’re doing, and always willing to answer any questions that I have. Anytime something happens with my aunt, they relay that feedback to me quickly. There was even a time when she needed to go to the doctor, but I was busy, so the director took her to her appointment. You don’t get that kind of service these days, let alone someone so willing to help when they don’t have to. The housekeeper cleans regularly, does the laundry about once a week, and takes out the trash frequently. It’s always so nice and clean which gives me peace of mind as well. There’s a girl that comes once a week to do art activities with the residents and she’s wonderful. There’s aerobic activities and cards to keep everyone busy as well. The other residents are pretty friendly; my aunt can sometimes be difficult to get along with but she’s making friends. The only thing that I don’t understand is that they seem to have a lot of sandwiches and chips for their lunches and dinners. However, my aunt isn’t losing any weight and seems to be getting enough food so it doesn’t bother me much. The payment is sort of high, but this facility is valuable and offers so much for what you pay. Overall, the staff is just great and the facility is wonderful – everything is small but just big enough that there’s room for walking around. I would absolutely recommend Forest Haven!

Beautiful facility

Port Haven is almost like a retirement community within a homely area. The community is small, maybe 8 residents, and it's bright and cheery. The staff seems very nice and caring and the residents all look happy where they're at. The only reason I wasn't able to bring my aunt here was because they don't offer a dementia facility. Overall, though, this place seems lovely.

This is a ranch home, expanded to allow more residents (6 total). Owners are very focused on needs of residents. Very nice handicap accessible deck and beautiful backyard. Bedrooms are rather small and there is only one shared bathroom. Very homey and friendly.

Tracy was very helpful and knowledgeable about dementia. Facility was very homey. Cute dog. I think my mom would really like it there. Tracy told me there is another facility in Saukville, which is closer to my home, that I would like to tour.

Terrible experience

My mother was at Stonehaven for two long weeks. We experienced medication mix ups, nights when she was not given her medication and staff documenting she received medication she did not get. When we complained we then experienced long waits to get her call light answered. My mother is of sound mind, is very sharp and could not wait to leave.
