You can feel it the minute you walk through the front door, something is different at Middlewoods of Farmington! Perhaps it is the smell of home-made cookies baked by residents wafting from the Country Kitchen. Or maybe it is the warm greeting from the Receptionist. Or could it be the friendly...

It was more on the lines of Emeritus that we ended up choosing in what they provided and offered. It was more of a gut feeling as to why I didn't go with Atria. There was nothing negative that made me sway one way or the other. This is a nice community.

This would have been a good assisted living option for my mother. The assisted living was great! It would have been near the top of my list. It was just a little further away. Their memory care did have a locked portion of the floor. It was beautiful but that wasn't the situation that I wanted for my mother.

I actually really liked this place. Manager was wonderful and I loved how small and personal the place was. The place was clean, I liked the scheduling of the activities and appointments, the size was great and the food was good. The downsides were (1) the price (even with their special, which takes off $1,000 a month for 9 months?that doesn?t help us because my mom will be on a fixed income), (2) the size of the studio apartment was really too small?the one bedroom was a good size but too pricey, and (3) the age of the residents was really old (avg. 87).

Good rehab and physical therapy but if your personal items of clothing are important to you and your family cannot personally launder, beware as their laundry service seems to be incompetent in returning laundered clothing to its owner. All clothing is clearly labeled with the patient's name but clothing items are not all returned. This happens time and time again and no one seems to care as improvements aren't made and patients continue to receive each other's clothing.

They didn't accept my mother there because they didn't have enough help to care for her. They were assisted living but they thought she would be better off in memory care so it wouldn't be the right place for her.

I toured this community and it wasn't the best fit for my loved one. She didn't care for it and said that right from the start.

I would was able to do a virtual tour and an in person tour with the Atria and our experience was okay. We really did not get a good feeling about it, we had done independent research before and after our tours and just saw mixed reviews about the community.

I have had experience with both the independent living, and the memory care. It's very clean and nice to look at, and the food is good, but there isn't enough staff, in the memory care. They don't have enough staff to get the residents up and walking and my loved one was kept in a wheelchair. I have been a little unhappy with the medication management as well. It's also very expensive if you are private pay. It's a good place, but more staff would definitely help improve the care.

This is about the locked area (I can't remember what they call it now). The front lobby staff were almost always friendly and caring. The aides for the most part were not very helpful at all. They did not listen to suggestions for helping my loved one, then called complaining about him, demanding we come help them. There was one aide who was an angel, [name removed], she treated him like family, but she was not always with him, she can't be there 24/7. The nursing staff lost his medication multiple times and lied about giving him medication that they called and told me he was out of, then yelled at my friend, a nurse, who was asking questions that they should have easily answered, instead they refused to speak to her or me until she left. But I didn't know what to ask or understand the nurse jargon leaving me more frustrated He fell multiple times, he asked for help and they didn't get his hearing aides so he could understand that he had to stay down in case anything was broken. He returned from the hospital and was not able to hold his head up or talk and they left him in bed for 12 hours, not notifying family of this major change that was COMPLETELY out of character. If anyone sends their loved ones there they must visit daily, to ensure the staff knows they should actually pay attention to their loved one. This is not a place for a person who is not "textbook" Alzheimer's. For those, like my loved one, with dementia but who knew what was happening, was stubborn and wasn't afraid to yell and get angry for what should have been humane care and treatment, this is not the place. Oh and if you're a Veteran and do not have Medicare for prescriptions or medical care this is not the place for you. We moved him there to be closer to family and because in home care was becoming more unmanageable because of cost. I wish we never brought him, he might still be alive today.

Atria Greenridge Place offers 2 separate living communities (assisted living and Life Guidance/Memory Care). If you are looking for Memory care for your loved one, I would stay away from Atria Greenridge place. They are understaffed and the residents spend the majority of the day in front of a tv. Managements focus is 100% on the assisted living side while the Memory care residents are treated like an afterthought. Limited social activities, very limited outings, limited time spent outside. Management refuses to allow memory care residents to be brought over to the assisted living side for any activities because "the assisted living residents don't want them over there". Moving a loved one into memory care is a difficult decision. The picture that was painted during the "sales pitch" is very different from the services we received.

Things didn't end up working out too well for us here. They weren't really set up to handle the care needs of our loved one. We'd gotten the okay to move him from a nursing facility to assisted living, but the specific care provided at Atria wasn't at the level we needed, and they told us quite a few of his care needs would have to be handled by the family. It looked like it might have been a nice place under different circumstances, but unfortunately it did not work out well for us.

If you are looking for assisted living, Atria Greenridge Place is a good choice. However, if you are looking for memory care, I would not recommend. We were told that memory care mirrors the assisted living side in everything they do. This is not the case. The memory care residents spend a lot of time sitting in front of the TV and they are understaffed for the level of care memory care residents often require. Unfortunately our loved was injured as a result of an interaction with a staff member and management refused to acknowledge my concerns or provide any documentation/reports to explain what happened. Also, please be aware that if your loved one exhibits any aggressive dementia behavior they will immediately be sent to the hospital for a psych evaluation. Even if the resident is redirected and the behavior stops. Both the ER doctors and the EMTs expressed their concerns over this policy as it creates unnecessary stress on the resident.

This place is straight up TERRiBLE, if I could of given it NO STARS that would of been correct, when my mother was there, the care that she received was BAD, things my mom told us that happened, when we approached the nursing staff they all covered for each other, we left our phone numbers near her phone and an aide called my cell phone to tell me to get up there because my mother was over medicated, so when I got there they moved that aide to a different wing and she really was over medicated and she fell repeatedly and they did nothing, don't use this facility if you love your loved one !!!!

Grandfather spent time at Bishop Wicke for rehab following a heart attack. Upon arriving, we found him in bed with same clothes he had on the day before. He is diabetic, and we were constantly having to stop staff and cna's from giving him fatty, sugary foods. Grandfather ran out of soap and asked for two days (scary to think of what staff was washing their hands with in his bathroom) Bathrooms are shared by FOUR beds, so if you have an urgently needed trip to the bathroom prepare to have an accident…also had to request toilet paper twice. The rooms are not cleaned daily and there are NO hand sanitizer dispensers posted inside the rooms (I noticed one at the main entrance). The list goes on and on and on. It's scary to imagine what kind of care he would have received had we not been there everyday to remind staff of his needs. The rehab staff simply checked the block. I observed many staff members texting and paying more attention to their cell phones than the patient exercises. In the end there were some very nice nurses and Rachel from the kitchen was exceptionally attentive. Other than that, prepare to micro-manage your loved-one's care. Disorganized, lack of communication, and substandard operating procedures had us frightened for our grandfather everyday…couldn't wait to get him home.
