someone took her remote control

Cherry Wood is going okay. [removed] There is a huge double closet with lost clothing already. One day she hardly had any clothes to wear. You have no choice as to what phone company you can use, you have to use COMCAST phone company. She cant use her phone or TV right now because they've been [removed]. They are keeping the rooms clean. They have a lot staff and they arrive quickly. It is very expensive here though.

It’s still a new experience,

It’s still a new experience, but it’s good so far. It’s clean as far as I can tell. They let you go and try it out to see how you feel about before you actually commit. They are really good. You get to meet all of the staffing as you enroll – you get to meet with everyone and ask all your questions.

Brookdale needs better management

The basic issue is a financial issue. We moved in under the guise of a certain price. Within 5-6 months, they've increased the rent by close to $3000 a month over what they originally said the cost would be. That's an extraordinary increase. And the services have not been up to par with what they advertised or promoted. They provide a call button to each of the residents to press as needed. My loved one has to pay an extra fee for service because she requires extra assistance. But there's no priority for her because she pays more for more service. Those who need less assistance have the same priority for their calls to be answered. And there's only one nurse on each floor to answer those calls. With the pandemic, they were extremely understaffed and hired no extra help. This organization was struggling and had some people quit. They needed to be more proactive to make the organization function at a better level. I think it's a nice facility physically, and the people are nice. Generally I think the people try to do the best they can. It's just that their system is not very good, and their staffing is not very good. They're charging this money for service that they're not really providing. They've made some extraordinary blunders, one regarding medication management. That's been a catastrophe. But I think it's mainly because they're not hiring people, or not paying them enough. So all this money is going somewhere else, I don't know. If you're young enough, in good enough health, without many physical ailments, this would probably be an okay place. But if you need any level of assistance, you may have a problem.

Poor communication!!

I did not even get a chance to tour the Revere Court because every time I called, it was hard to get ahold of someone. I originally liked the fact that it was close to my father's home, but I did not like the fact that I could even get a call back for a tour, that was a no.

Review for Cherrywood Memory Care

Last summer the heat pumps were out, which meant no air conditioning. It took months for them to get the parts, their explanation and they had giant noisy fans, Then it was down again and they had to use heaters. Some problems with the bookkeeping software, so my loved one's long term care plan wasn't billed for reimbursement. Little hokey I think but my loved one is clean, her room is clean, meds are given on time, the food looks appetizing and she doesn't want to move.

Complaints on Food Availability, $13 for breakfast too?!

Go Outside to a Restaurant Instead - WARNING

This review is only when you planning to join your loved one for a meal. The price is a high $13.00. They pick and choose which food they run out of. For instance: They put the menu up on the wall so you get excited of what they offer. You pay the $13.00, you and your loved one begin to order only to be appalled to find out the Tilapia ran out and the lemon butter broccoli ran out. It starts at 4:30 p.m. you are there at 4:31 p.m. How can they run out, its only been 1 minute? So you have to get other unhealthy undesirable fattening options. The portions are under a tiny scoop so filling yourself up to futile. I think either the staff wants to eat these items for themselves so they claim they ran out. If you ever eat here with your loved one, go into the kitchen and ask if the items you want are available so you do not have to pay and be disappointed, again and again. Plus one of the butternut squash was al dente and inedible.

Good pricing but not the best care

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my Brother-In-Law. I liked this facility but it wasn’t as nice as the others I’ve seen. I feel like they didn’t have a lot of staff members. When I walked in, I saw a woman yelling at one of the tables and not one of the staff members talked to her to see what was wrong. This facility also smelled like urine and I just didn’t see the level of care I was hoping. I would recommend this facility to other families because of the pricing.

Missing items upon move-out

My Mom stayed here for respite. As far as I can tell, I think my Mom received good care. She seemed clean, well-groomed, and content. The food smelled and looked really good. The staff seemed friendly, compassionate, and I had a good report with them. My biggest downside was that a lot of her stuff was missing when we moved her out. I am hesitant about bringing her back here because of it. They had a few activities available and would have musicians come in to entertain the patients. Overall, I would recommend them for their care, but I think they could improve on securing the residents’ items so they don’t go missing.

I toured with Joyce and was a little disappointed about a few things. Their menu is strictly vegetarian which is not an option for us. Also you have to be completely independent to move in and can only have assistance come in once a week, which is less than we need. They offer a variety of floor plans and have a great location.

not too thrilled

I am not too thrilled with Brookdale Napa. The cleanliness is not up to my standards. He has a completely compromised immune system and I think they could really improve so he doesn't get sick. They do his laundry every week and we had bought a brand new bed and I made the bed and there were grease marks on he sheets. That's a red flag for me that they're not paying attention. Also he is a younger resident and they have dinner at 4:30 pm and it ends at 6. I tested their window to see if they serve all the way up until 6 pm. A couple of times they ran out of food. I walked in the kitchen and there was meatloaf leftover but they didn't want to stay to warm it up. If you aren't there by 5:30 you get a sandwich, no hot meal. When I met him a few years ago he was a healthy weight but has since had several strokes and has lost weight. He cannot afford to miss a meal. The portions are tiny. He has to order 2 portions to get full. The food is okay, it's not horrid. The don't serve fresh vegetables. They are short staffed at the front desk. They take my name and number and never get back to me. I would never put him in this facility. There were 2 main reasons we put him here. It's a block up the road from a really good hospital, there is a wellness center/rehab center/gym, and he used to work in this valley. If there was another facility close by I would put there.

Reality

This pertaining to the meals ONLY. When we first went there to try out the food, it was great, the fish was abundant, the vegetable was fresh, sweet and tender but the rice was hardened. After my parent was put it, we ate there every 2 weeks. The portions were tiny, the food seemed processed, the desserts were mostly not homemade especially the pies, the salad dressings tasted terrible - like plastic generic containers, it made the salad bad. There are black spots in the avocado. If I knew this there was a high possibility my parent would not be placed here.

The best of the worst....

My loved ones have moved into Brookdale Napa and they are doing as well as to be expected. Brookdale Napa is probably the best of the worse, from what I have seen in the napa area there is not a very good place in this area. Just like in any place, you have bad employees and good employees. There has ben some that have been very rude they have let I loved one slip many times. Also, when my loved one said she needed to go to the restroom, they told her to wait a couple of hours when she is ready to go to bed. The billing has also been off. Overall, they treat my loved ones well and they're enjoying their place. Its no home but better than other places we looked at.

Frustrating

They had my loved one for 8 days. And then they just called an ambulance, sent him to the emergency room, and the director told the ambulance driver not to bring him back. The director was not nice and very rude. They didn't let me see him that whole 8 days. They kept telling me he needed to get used to them. They also made me hire 1:1 care, even though I was already paying them to care for him.

Horrible

My father was at this facility for just under 2 months before he passed. For reasons I won't explain, this facility was our only option at the time. Although my dad liked the staff (Joey was great) and there were some that provided good care, his overall care was sub par. We would go visit him in the afternoon and his food from breakfast would be sitting on a tray untouched because he couldn't feed himself! One time we went into his room and his eye was swollen shut?? I cleaned the room and bathroom myself because the floor and toilet were always dirty. Staff let a UTI get so back he had to be hospitalized. My dad had Alzheimer's so we chose not to move him as he liked the staff and we didn't want to upset him. We were private pay and paid $12,800/month!! I do not recommend this facility.
