Albeit a small assisted living, and affordable one, I'm hoping the kinks can be worked out with the new management. The new manager is working hard to turn things around but still has a ways to go.

our families experience

Our family decided to come to Brookside Stone Mountain because of one staff member [name removed]. They went above and beyond for our family and really made us feel comfortable and special. They really paid attention to all of our loved ones wants and needs, and was just amazing to work with.

The staff is good for the most part, they could use some training in care giving. They are very short staffed

Great food. Beautiful common areas in this community.

My husband has been here for almost four years. Needless to say, he would rather be home but he is accepting most days. He has never once complained about the food and insists the breakfast here are the best ever! They have opportunities for eating out two or three times a month with transportation furnished and he enjoys the change of scenery but says the food is not as good in the restaurants. My biggest complaint is the inability of the place to maintain a long term director. There have been numerous changes in management personnel since he has been there. There is a beautiful courtyard which is well maintained. I would like to see more activities happening in this area as I think the fresh air and sunshine would benefit residents. Used infrequently in the summer months and never in the late fall and winter months.

Review for Bountiful Hills Senior Living

I would say the community is good. I think they did a great job caring for my dad. The only real concern was the cleanliness. My dad got way better care here than at the last community.

Tour experience

Brookside stone mountain was close by and that's the only positive thing I can say. Their memory care area felt like a dark locked basement hole, to be frank. The people and assisted living side were fine, but memory care seemed an afterthought.

Initially it was necessary that we place our loved one here, but it is not a place of longevity for us. Look at all of the above categories rated at a 3. Those need improvement.

Our experience

The only thing that really made me mad was I don't think I was told the complete truth about what was going on. She was only here 6 days and they did not give me back any type of refund. They were being evasive when telling me I wouldn't get the money back. Overall not the best experience. The facility is nice and I think it would be fine for someone who needed less care.

I would recommend for assisted living, but not memory care

We chose Brookside Commerce because of the location, it was closer for us to see him. We ended up pulling him out of here because he kept getting out of memory care because their doors were not secure. The room sizes were nice, but they do not close the doors to other patients so things would get taken from rooms. People would also go into his bathroom and pee would be all over the bathroom floors and his bedroom floor since they did not shut them. They were very friendly staff members. I would recommend for assisted living, but not memory care.

Good community, but some staff lacked training.

This community is close to us, which we liked. But they were understaffed most of the time, and seemed to be lacking training, it could of been so much better. Some of the staff was very and some of the staff was horrible, however they did take care of her. I did see her every day which i believe helped her get more care. You do have to make your presence known. They did have a couple of exercise classes for the residents, they would throw the ball to each other. Sometimes they would have holiday parties, entertainment come in to sing to the,. They tried to keep them active the best they could. We cleaned the rooms ourselves, but they were good size, they had a big window that provided fresh sunlight

Better ratio of staff to residents

Our loved one seems to be settling into Brookside Stone Mountain. The facility is an older establishment that could use some updating and refreshing. But they are taking good care of his needs. The staff is friendly and caring. We moved him to this facility for better care and more attentive staff members Also there isn't as many residents in the memory care section here, only about 12. There were about 60 in the previous facility he was at. There is a better staff to resident ratio here. The staff members are pretty easy to talk to about any questions or concerns regarding our loved one's well-being. It seems like he is enjoying his meals. It is in a convenient location where we come and take him out a few times a week. It fit our budget needs.

Some Improvement Needed, But Overall a Good Community

My mother loves this community, and we are pleased with all they have done for us. It is a really nice facility, but we do have some concerns. At the moment they are under staffed, but the staff they do have is great. Also the meal program needs improvement. Other than those issues the experience as gone well so far. She is enjoying the social interaction, and we know she is in good hands. We are pleased with this community, there are a few improvements they need to make, but I would recommend it.

several incidents at night

Brookdale Stone Mountain is older and due for a remodel. The people are as sweet as can be and friendly. The treat you like family. I just think they are overworked. We have had several incidents at night when dad has called for help. [removed] We had several instances like that. Thankfully dad has gotten stronger and that's not as much of an issue anymore. They are also a little disorganized as far as billing goes.

Way too expensive

They were way too expensive. They had adequate nursing care, but they would take all of his budgeted income and they break down the levels of care by number, so he would be considered the highest level. There's a base amount and then that's extra so it would have been an additional [removed].
