Independent Living

Many seniors may be capable of living without assistance, but the burden of home ownership and the maintenance of the property might be a deterrent to an independent lifestyle. Independent Living Communities offer a convenient remedy. Basic needs such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is provided, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they see fit, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and interests. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they prefer. While policies differ between locations, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services may always be arranged for with independent care providers as desired. There are a variety of advantages and costs to consider when determining an independent living community. It is important to learn if these amenities are included in the care plan: meals, utilities, field trips, wellness program, laundry, private phone, transportation, and internet access. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include community activities, private rental hall, security guards, transportation, restaurant-style dining hall, healthcare center, laundry service, and fitness center & swimming pool.
