The Point has provided our loved a safe place so the value for cost is invaluable. It really has a warm feeling to it which drew us in fairly quickly. There are a lot of activities going on which we are both very pleased with, we have never regretted our decision choosing The Point.

Review ofPacifica Senior Living Oakland Heights
5.0

Authenticity can't be faked - it shows. I'm very impressed with Pacifica Oakland Heights. Pacifica is what it says it is. The mood in the Dementia Care facility is light and warm. In the exercise class, two of the residents are going through the steps with a smile and a sense of humor. When you walk into any room, the residents turn their faces toward you, like they expect to have a conversations. And they do. The staff is always saying, "Hi Miss [name removed]," "Hi [name removed], did you have a good walk?" Everyone's story is listened to. "Your dad is here today? Where? Over by the bench? I see him!" The residents seem genuinely emotionally healthy. I chose a good place for my Mom.

My father has thrived under the leadership of [name removed], the Director of the Pacifica in Oakland, CA. I am so impressed with the friendship she has with my father and all that she's been able to do to improve his quality of life. It's true peace of mind to be able to receive a quick response whenever I call/email her. [name removed] staff & care givers interact with my father so wonderfully, and he's happy. My father has lived at the Oakland Pacifica for more than 10 years, and it's still such a blessing that my family found Pacifica when we did!

We had a very brief experience with them, just a few weeks overall. The caregivers they sent went were pretty good. I guess the scope of their duties was different than what I expected. And I think we struggled with my father trying to do everything for them. But the person I talked to when I first called, who ended up being my point of contact throughout, was outstanding. He explained things thoroughly, was very professional, and understood what customer service was. He was the main reason I went with Limitless Care.

Arts, Culture, Entertainment, and Recreation

Located on the east side of the San Francisco Bay, Oakland was named for the large oak trees that originally covered the area. These days the city is a bustling metropolis closely connected to the surrounding cities in the Bay Area. Oakland is one of the most diverse cities in America, and this is reflected in the city’s culture and its vibrant art scene. The region is known for being very progressive, very friendly to members of the LGBTQ+ community, and for having the highest concentration of artists per capita in the United States. Notable locations in the city include Downtown Oakland, Chinatown, Old Oakland, and Jack London Square – named after the author who used to frequent the neighborhood.

Oakland is also home to a large music scene and a thriving nightlife community. Bars and nightclubs across the city feature all types of music, ranging from jazz and blues to rock bands and hip hop. One popular event in the city is the monthly Oakland Art Murmur which features live performances, food trucks, and over 30 art galleries and music venues. The event is stretched across 20 city blocks and occurs on the first Friday night of every month.

Oakland has a number of great parks for those who enjoy outdoor recreation. The Joseph Knowland State Arboretum and Park is home to The Oakland Zoo, along with many rare native plants, endangered species, bobcats, and mountain lions. Lake Merritt, located in the center of Oakland, is another great spot for a leisurely afternoon. The popular lake features grassy shores, a nature center, a boat house where you can rent boats and canoes, and a 3.4-mile walking path that runs around the water’s edge. Lake Merritt is also home to the oldest bird sanctuary in North America.

Transportation

Oakland has many great options for getting around the city and the surrounding Bay Area. Transportation between other Bay Area cities is provided by the Bay Area Rapid Transit, which operates electric trains throughout the area. AC Transit operates bus routes all throughout the Oakland metropolitan area. There are also ferries available to connect you to the nearby islands.
