Would not recommend for memory care

If someone has a loved one with Alzheimer's, this is not going to be a good fit for them. They sent my wife to the hospital because they could not care for her and she has been there ever since. THey charged me for the whole month but she was only there for 2 days.

Don, I apologize that you had a negative experience, that is definitely not the feedback we strive for. Per our residency agreement which is signed by either the residents or their responsible parties, our facility has a bed hold policy. This policy guarantees residents will have a home to return to if they met our state requirements for our license. This is something that is signed prior to all residents moving in. Residents/ responsible parties are responsible for rent payments until all belongings have been removed from the property. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at the facility if i can be any further assistance to you.

A Living Community That Cares

The coordinator is definitely very friendly. She was very engaging in terms of asking what our loved one's interests were. She's done a great job at inviting our loved one to engage and participate in the activities, and in telling us how things work there. Overall they've showed a lot of interest, and that impressed my loved one that the coordinator took the time to get to know her, and even gave her a little gift as well. The only criticism I have is that upkeep on the few pianos they have that the residents can use is not quite up to date, so they're not in great playable condition, per report from our loved one.

We love nearly everything about The Rose Garden, Mom is a little concerned it isn't all on 1 level however I did ask about evacuation plans in case of power failure and they assured us even in power failure or other emergency there is always 1 elevator in operation and that staff are specifically trained to evacuate wheelchair patients down stairwells. They have a large selection of activities so there would be plenty to keep mom entertained. Their 1 bedroom share plan offers a great deal of privacy and plenty of space for her belongings. they have scheduled outings which she can sign up to attend. there is an outdoor space where she can go for fresh air whenever she likes. and perhaps the best feature is the restaurant dining experience where a server comes to the table and takes her order from a menu of available items for the day. I was able to speak to a couple of the residents who had been there for more than 2 years one of them admitted she was having a bad day but that it was not related to her care at the facility, the other lady I spoke with had nothing bad to say at all said she had been there for 3 years and when I asked her specifically if she could relate one negative experience she could not think of anything negative. The only drawback to this facility for us is the distance from our home but if that is the only obstacle this place is at the top of our list for sure.

Our tour experience

We were only there about an hour or so on our tour. It wasn’t as clean as other places we looked at. I noticed the carpet in the hallways was awful. The staff was okay and everything. But when you first walked in, the foyer was in repair - it looked like they were doing repairs constantly.

Our experience at Rose Garden

My experience with the administration was not good, because there was very poor communication. My loved one passed, and nobody called to say they were sorry about that, other than one of the ladies who worked closest with my loved one. When I was concerned about things and would call them, there was no answer. And they wouldn't call me back. They would talk to my sister, but not to me. I don't know if they were concerned that I was asking too many questions or wanting too many things. I would talk to them when I would come to visit and tell them they needed to communicate with me and give me updates. They would say "Oh, so and so was supposed to talk to you." So they were giving information to another person but not directly to me. When my loved one fell and hit her head and had a hematoma, they called my sister and not me. Another complaint I have is that the medication was supposed to be through one specific pharmacy. They told me if I wanted to use my own pharmacy, I had to pay $500 a month just to use a different pharmacy. So basically they were forcing us to use their pharmacy. On the more positive side, the people who worked closely with my loved one provided good care. When I would call her, she would often be dong activities, like painting, watching a movie, doing exercises. She had dementia, and I felt like they took good care of her there. When we would go outside, she would tell me she needed to get out of there and go home. She would take my hand to go home, but she would go right back in the door there - even in her confusion, that was where she felt safe and felt was her home. It was expensive, but when compared to other places, it was about the same.

Hello Vera, thank you so much for your 4-star rating. I wanted to take the minute and address your concerns. I apologize you felt our administrative's team communication was not up to par. When residents initially move in, we ask families to designate a point of contact/ responsible party. Once the families decide who that point of contact is, any emergencies or communication goes to that one person. In regards to the pharmacy, we use a private pharmacy, who provides weekly prata packaging. This allows our staff to effectively pass medications, provides more efficient infection control procedures and allows our staff spend more time providing care for our residents.

Great spot for Orlando residents

Pre COVID the activities were good they had bingo, a big community crossword puzzle which our loved one enjoyed. They had a ball dance almost like prom. This community had a really good value which was one of the big reason we chose this community, they also had adequate housing options, and we appreciated that her meals were included.

Definitely happy with our experience

We chose Rose Garden of Orlando because of the location and the price value was great. The room sizes here were excellent and big. I ate here and the food was great, my mother in law like it as well. The meals were chef prepared. The best part about this community for us would be the helpful staff members, they really went out of their way. I would recommend.
