We had a great tour experience with Personal Care Senior Living. This is pretty much a carbon copy of the Person Care in Columbia Heights. which it the facility that we went with. When we toured this location, it was brand new and only a few residents had moved in. It really just comes down to the locaiton and which works best for you, both places are great.
During our loved ones final days we could not of asked for more from the staff team - they constantly came to check on our loved one and our family. They would bring us coffee, drinks, snacks and meals. We would recommend Personal Care Senior Living based on the experience we had.

We have already recommended the community to others for their loved ones. The owners are present on site and it makes it easier to discuss concerns that we have about our loved one. Any concerns the family has had, have been addressed quickly by the staff. There are three meals a day served to the residents.

October 7, 2022THANK YOU SO MUCH, for this review! We value your input, and strive to be the best we can be for you, and your loved ones.
They went out of their way to accommodate for her. I really appreciated the flowers that were sent to her funeral, and the gift I received from the admin after. Very caring. I loved Personal Care! Accommodating. Felt like family.

October 7, 2022Thank you SO much for your review. "Felt like family" because we truly became a family!
Overall it is better than others we have visited, however there is a lot of staff turn over and inconsistency. This is fine if you are visiting regularly and can monitor care. The food service was pretty good initially, however they have again had staff changes which has really lowered the quality of food. This is an area they need to improve. Some staff are friendly and care about the residents, while others are just there doing the minimum. It really is hit or miss. The nurse and activities coordinator are great.

It's a beautiful place. The morning and afternoon shifts were great. night shift had some issues. I would suggest, putting a camera in your loved ones room, and try to visit at different times during the day.

October 7, 2022Thank you so much for taking the time to share a review. We appreciate hearing from you! If ever a concern at anytime, please let us know so we can address it right away.
WE did not have a good experience here. They tell you everything that you want to hear but then would not follow through on those promises made. Our loved one had to go to the hospital and when we were ready to bring him back they said he was going to be too much work and that they would not take him. We were disappointed.
Response from Personal Care Senior Living
October 7, 2022I am very sorry to hear about this... I am not sure when this happened but I can assure you that we would never turn your loved one away after being admitted to the hospital. I would love for you to call me directly so we can talk further about this.
This was a a very small community. They seem to be just starting out. We didn't see the number of activities we wanted for my loved on.
We went with Personal Care Senior Living because it is a smaller facility with less residents and we liked the fact that it is all inclusive so you pay one price and you don't have any add on fees. The activities have improved dramatically since my loved one first moved in, they just got an activities director and she is doing a lot of things with the residents. They have an exercise class right after breakfast, they are doing games throughout the day, crafts, etc. They have had turnover in chefs but they have recently hired a new chef so we are hoping things will improve. Overall we would recommend them to other families looking

Moving dad into a community was scary for our family we didn’t know what to do or where to go. We felt this was the perfect fit for dad for what his needs are and will continue to be. We are very happy with our choice, most of all dad loves it here!

Response from Personal Care Senior Living
October 7, 2022Thank you so much for sharing! We are so happy, you and your loved one is happy!
Our family needs to be on site each day to ensure that my dad is attended to. We have shared our concerns with the management company and have received assurances that things would improve, staff would be hired, training would be provided and care would be better. We have hired a private caregiver to supplement his care. Unless your family is able to be at the facility daily to monitor and advocate for your loved one, especially if memory or dementia is an issue, do not choose Personal Care. Attempts have been made to rectify what we now know as ongoing (and yet undisclosed to new families) problems. These include an effort to reduce medication errors, and hire essential staff. Very poor management company with infinite opportunities to improve, yet dismal results at this point. DO your diligence before even considering Personal Care for a loved one. Believe what you see, not what you hear from the management company. Seek out information from residents and family members.

October 7, 2022Thank you so much for sharing your concerns. I really would love to hear if these concerns have been addressed. Please know we take your input very serious and will do whatever we can to ensure you and your loved ones are happy.
Their care of my loved one was Inconsistent, especially regarding how much they checked on her and frequency of handling toileting needs. The majority of the staff were fine, and I appreciate those better ones. But ultimately when I came to Personal Care with questions or concerns, I felt like I was not heard.

October 7, 2022I am very sorry to hear this. Your questions and concerns are valued, and I am so sorry you did not feel this was the case.
This is a new facility and the staff seems like they are in training. I am grateful they took my loved one in and are working with him. The staff needs to do more and learn more. He is very happy there.

I really liked this community itself and the staff were very friendly. They were younger and seemed to be inexperienced, so this would have been my second choice. They gave a good tour and I got to see a lot of the community and get a good feel for it.
The staff has been changing a lot, they have had 4 different nurses since we moved in. It is a newer facility and I do not think that they have good protocols set in place. We do not see administrative staff much or know their hours, I think they could be more available for families. It seems like a lot of family members are up here taking care of their loved ones. Overall we have not been pleased with the experience so far.

Our families experience varies day to day, the mean common areas are clean and the friendliness of the staff members are getting better. The meals and dining are good they get three meals a day. There are a lot of activities during the day for the residents to participate.

When we toured Personal Care it was brand new so there were not a lot of residents there and it was not quite up and running yet. The facility itself was nice but the view from the rooms was no so appealing.
It's a nice place, and it's pretty new. They can handle residents with memory care issues. The community is neat and clean, and I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.
