Great location, good value, happy with my decision
I gave the cleanliness a 4 only because it is an older building and could stand an update to the walls (paint), floor and carpet as well.
And food, sometimes limited options are not to my liking. Not that skipping a meal now and then would hurt my waistline, or health
My primary motivator for selecting this facility is proximity (4 blocks) to main central public transit hub, great location.
I chose one of the smallest studios (325 square feet) because it suits my needs and preferences, but I have been in others that seem quite nice, double or triple mine. There are GREAT view from the upper floors.

Used to be good then became terrible
Was great before the management changed to Nile Living mid 2023. Now run entirely for profit at the expense of the residents.
Completely terrible and the executive director is a truly evil person.
Services are promised and not furnished, then other charges will show up randomly taken out of the residents bank account with no warning and they will not reverse them.
Food is awful, staff is limited and the garage isn't secure.
They stole over $[removed] from us in "guest meals" that they made up and stole it directly from my mom's bank account

However, we have been flexible with all residents and families when payment difficulties arise, and we would be happy to review the accuracy of our billing with you at any time as this concern was also not made known to us during your stay. As you have stated, one of our payment options is automatic withdrawal from your bank account via ACH and these recurring withdrawals are only made with each resident or responsible party’s signed authorization, as was the case with your loved one. We appreciate the feedback you’ve given regarding our past food quality, and we’re pleased with the improvements our on-site Chef has made in the last 8 months to return Calaroga Terrace’s food quality to the seasonal, regional scratch cooking that our residents have come to expect. And our 24/7 Concierge service has taken strides to ensure the security of our garages and all entrances are monitored around the clock and inspected throughout each shift. I cannot rate the value because I have nothing to compare it to. They could improve on the distribution of their "terrace tattler" however I am really enjoyed the Friday happy hours!

Needs Improvement
Nothing was working, but it is getting better. Things were not finished in the apartment. My loved one does not like the food becasue at times it's a little bland. Sometimes there is a decent meal. They never have things, that is listed on the menu. Overall, it has been a struggle, and it needs to be updated. It's very old. My loved one does not really like it there.

Good Value. Good Location. Great Staff.
The location is great, just a few block away from a main public transit hub, which was really important to me. The building has 17 floors, and there are great views out the window. The staff I've interacted with have been excellent. The food is better than cafeteria food. Sometimes there's a long wait at mealtimes, but the serving staff is wonderful. I see a lot of activities posted if you like that sort of thing. I think it's a great value, which was one of the reasons why I chose them. I went for the little studio, and it's tight, but it's a lot bigger than other apartments I've had before outside of senior living. As a more active person, my needs and preferences might be vastly different than what other people are looking for, but for me it has been great. I really like it here.

A Beautiful Building with Hard Working Staff. Some Improvements To Be Made.
The staff is extremely nice and helpful, everyone that works here tries exceptionally hard and is very nice and shows that they care. It does seem like the place is understaffed and could use more employees, though the ones they have are amazing. The carpets in the place are dirty, the trash disposal rooms are unkempt, and there is an unpleasant smell in a lot of the building. Also, usually only one elevator works, and the washing machines often break.
Aside from that though, the staff does an amazing job, it just seems like they are overworked for how many people they have. It seems like the budget should be increased. The building itself is really fantastic, it's far more impressive than any others we looked at. The terrace level is expansive and full of amenities, the courtyard is beautiful, and the apartments are newly renovated. I would recommend, as the apartments are nice and my mom is happy here, there are just some improvements in upkeep and staffing to be made.

Calaroga is A Very Good Place for
I would tell others that there are some staffing challenges. This has recently been improving over the last few months. I'm hopeful things will be better. My loved one likes the variety of food offered. It would be nice to have more healthy options available for the residents to choose from for meals. The activities are limited due to the pandemic but getting better.

A Good Place For Mom
The person who interviewed us was wonderful. I think you just have to be very communicative with them about your person that's coming in, and say if there's something you want as an activity, or be wiling to say my loved done isn't getting enough of this or that. And they're more than willing to examine that and talk to who they need to to make it happen. The staff they have are great. Just like everyone else right now, they're having problems with staffing. But the food is very good, definitely better than where my loved one came from, which is wonderful. I think for the money, it's definitely worth it. My loved one is much happier here.

Pacifica Calaroga Terrace gave an excellent tour. But the model apartment was up on 15th floor, and I wasn’t sure I would be comfortable being so high up.

Disappointed in Management
We moved our friend into Calaroga Terrace February 2020 and were initially pleased with the facility. However within a month Covid related issues began to expose problems. The working staff from the front desk to those delivering meals to the residents were obviously invested in their work and caring for the residents, but there was immediate and continual turnover in management.
We eventually tried to move our friend from independent living to assisted care within the facility as her dementia became worse, but we were unable to communicate with administration despite physically going to the facility to meet with them in person on 2 occasions.
Her health and safety required that we move our friend out of Calaroga Terrace in February 2021. We found a wonderful family home in Vancouver, WA where she received incredible care and personal attention.
The dedication of the working staff can't compensate for disappointing management.
We can't recommend this facility.

Great positive atmosphere
I am new at Calaroga Terrace and in all my years as a manager i have never experienced such support and positivity. Our residents are happy and very well engaged, they have taken notice to the changes and are in support of calaroga. This community is beautiful and has all the amenities that anyone could ask for, but i do believe it is the staff and their caring nature that keeps our residents safe and happy. If you haven not visited Calaroga please make a appointment to do so, you will not be disappointed.

I would recommend it
The staff at the community is very nice, our loved one really enjoys them. Due to the covid restrictions the community involvement is pretty limited, and the activities are limited. However most of the entire community has been vaccinated so hopefully they start bringing things back. The cost is very economical with independent living, our loved one has a studio plus apartment which a little nook for the bed, and that included all utilities and food. The only issue our loved one has is with the food, its more cafeteria styles instead of restaurant styled, and it can also be inconsistent.
