We no longer live at Morning Star. The people are nice and the food was good but we had someone move in the floor above us that was very loud all the time.
We have been here 3 months. The people are very nice. Our apartment is roomier enough for the two of us. The food is good and there is plenty of things to do but ( there is always a but) some people moved in above us that are very heavy footed and drop things a lot. We get woke up early and then the noise goes all day. We are moving since there doesn't seem to be anything the management can do.

We are very sorry that you were disappointed in our community. Your presence was a welcome addition to our MorningStar family. Of course, you are at liberty to choose other accommodations, but please recall: immediately upon learning from you about the perceived noise, we did offer you an identical two-bedroom suite on the top floor, featuring the same beautiful view of our courtyard, with no transfer fee. Executive Director Janine Sawaya is eager to see your return to complete satisfaction; won’t you give her another call to resolve?
My mother has chosen this facility. Excellent facility! The IL apartment I toured was a great size. It was very roomy and had a full kitchen. Upon arrival I asked for the person I had been confirmed with for the tour. One of the receptionists told the other one, "No, don't call her, call "X", so that was confusing. I also felt neither of the receptionists were very warm or friendly, and neither was the person who gave me the tour. I felt rushed. I did have a confirmed appointment and was on time. I also like it because the price includes only two meals a day, which is what my mother wants, so she would't be paying for a meal she was not eating.
I loved this facility. The staff and residents are friendly and appear happy. The care shown by management in designing the rooms, the food provided, the Bistro, activities both inside and outside the facility, and the cleanliness and attractive decor all made this a five star. The cost is slightly high, with an average of 3% increase each year, but if one can afford it, it's worth it.
Based on my tour they were fine. However I just didn't getting a good feeling for a match. It looked clean. The staff were all nice and good at what they were doing. Everybody was happy when I walked through. The number of people, the layout, and the dining experience was not a good match for my mom.
The food at this community is good and they offer good sized portions. The staff have been great with mom they are helping her to adjust and encouraging her to participate in some of the daily activities. They always have something going on and mom has made some new friends. The staff are caring, patient and they know each residents needs and how to take care of them. They keep the community clean and I would highly recommend it.
I think my parents are settling in as well as to be expected. They have a group of residents who help new residents settle in and find out about activities that are going on. The staff is extremely caring. I feel that I made the right choice!
My loved one first moved here when it was still called the "Bonaventure" and it was a terrible experience. We were paying so much money for 1/10th of the services we get at another place. They charge money for "extra care" that the resident can do on their own. They even charged for picking up the trash. Also, there were all kinds of sicknesses that came through here. There were items stolen from her room that they didn't seem to care about, and it just did not seem to be a good fit at all. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Most happily we report to you that MorningStar Senior Living of Boise is a completely different community today. MorningStar assumed management of this wonderful campus for independent and assisted living in December 2013. Since then…what a transformation! Under the servant-leadership of Janine Sawaya we are thrilled to declare that residents and families alike could not be happier with the care, compassion and hospitality beneath our roof. Resident referrals alone keep our community at near 100% occupancy, which is the strongest proof that promises are being kept, lives are being changed, and the relationships that shape it all are loving and authentic. Stop by and see for yourself.
This was our second choice. It was quite nice. The issue is that is was quite a ways a way from where my mother had been living before. Of the five places we visited we narrowed it down to this and one other. It was newer and had a very open, inviting dining room with lots of windows. It had lots of activities. If the Bonaventure Place had been closer we probably would have opted for this one. Location was the main factor in choosing another place. By far, Bonaventure had the best floor plans of any place we visited. They were very open and spacious.
My mom seems to love every part of it except for the orientation. That was not good. I was told that as soon as she came there she would receive a tour and there was a painting club - that was one of the main draws of Bonaventure. She wanted to meet them and be a part of that. About a week and a half into her being there she still had not had any kind of a tour and she still hasn't had the opportunity to meet with the ladies about the painting and she's been there a month now. Everything else she's really been pleased with. They've gone out of their way to help her. She's only getting one meal a day but the meals that she gets, lunch, she really likes. They giver her so much food that she takes some of it back to her room for the next meal.
Mom and Dad changed their mind. Need some place that has retirement and assisted living completely separate. Also, room did not have enough closet space.
Loved this place and so did my mother-in-law. It is probably our 1st choice at this point.
