July 26, 2022Thank you so much for the kind words. We consider it a sacred honor to serve those who taught the rest of us how to live. And we are so sorry for your loss, may God heal you, strengthen you and bless you.
Our family had an in person tour and the tour lady [name removed] was just awesome and so lovely to speak with. However the community is quite large and spread out that our loved one had to take breaks during the tour so we just didn't think it would work out because of the size. This would of been our first choice, it was a great tour experience

June 2, 2022You have testified to the love we feel for our resident-seniors, and to our chief ambition to serve as a trusted resource. By your words of praise, we are encouraged to redouble our efforts in helping each senior find his or her best life.
The staff members have been so great to work with they really make it feel like home and they do their absolute best to keep our loved one comfortable and healthy. Our loved one absolutely loves the meals and dining service. We loved it right away it was a first great impression and a great choice. The community is beautiful and new and our loed one has able to bring their dog in finally!

June 2, 2022So good of you to take the time to write these encouraging words. We consider it a sacred honor to serve those who taught the rest of us how to live.
I love that I have my own garage and washer and dryer, that is a huge plus. I do understand the struggles with the staffing shortages so it is not entirely their fault, but they could work to improve on the quality of the meals and the repetitiveness.

March 31, 2022Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We appreciate your candid feedback as we strive for excellence at MorningStar.
They don't care. They are not in the business of caring. All they want is your $6500/month. They know that after all the emotional heart ache and all that you have gone through to find a care facility, you will most likely not go through the pain of moving your loved one out once they are there. [name removed], Regional VP of Sales is no better than a used car salesman. Director of Community Relations, [name removed] is a complete idiot who has no advanced formal education nor degree in adult aging. I received emails from her with no subject line or text in the message box after I made a complaint about her. I believe this was her way of attempting to intimidate and/or harass me. I made a complaint to the Corporate office, which is is no easy matter to contact them directly. It has been 2 years and I have still not heard back from them. They don't care because they are not in the business of caring.

March 31, 2022It pains us to hear of the disappointment you experienced two years ago. In researching, we do not find record of your visiting our community then. But would appreciate the chance to make a fresh start. Executive Director, [name removed] would welcome an opportunity to connect; please reach out to her at: 623.500.4300. We wish you the best.
I would advise to check out a few more places for your loved one to find a community. The staff that are here some of them are excellent and some of them are not so good. They have very few specific activities for memory care and majority of the activities are for assisted living unit. Every now and they they will include the memory care unity but not often.

March 14, 2022Building Family for Life is not just a turn-of-phrase. We are passionate about changing each other for the good, a mutual exchange of comfort and joy. We thank you for testifying to that fact.
We went with Morningstar because of the friendliness of the staff, the overall value, and it is just an outstanding place. The food is amazing, you get a full menu that has a lot of variety and they are chef prepared. I am picky and I thought it was restaurant quality food. I think it is a top notch facility and I would have no problem living there myself. It has a very warm, friendly, and inviting feel to it right when you walk in.

We toured this community and the tour was very good. They answered all of our questions and were very informative. They were very accommodating and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

September 7, 2021Thank you so much for the kind words. We never tire of hearing evidence that we have met and exceeded expectations.
The biggest thing to me is the staffing ratio of caregivers to residents. They're short on staff most of the time. I know they have resident vacancies, but they still need more appropriate staffing levels to care for the residents who are there. Also, they don't have a nurse there working every day, only five days a week, which concerns me a little bit.
Response from MorningStar Senior Living at Golden Ridge
August 16, 2021Thank you for commending us in many ways. And we appreciate your candor about staffing. We are all feeling the frustrations and out-workings of the pandemic, including its continuing impact on the labor force. Nonetheless, MorningStar meets and often exceeds the staffing metrics set by our occupancy and level of care. Our nurses do work hard in service to our seniors, especially to accommodate the vacation of others, but our care coordinators are there to balance clinical leadership. We are excited to welcome new team members in housekeeping, dining, administration and community relations over the coming weeks.
We chose Morningstear because of the cleanliness, friendliness of staff members, and the level of care that they were able to provide. We looked at 8 or 9 places and it was actually not the most expensive yet we feel we got the best bang for the buck. My mother was here about 6 weeks and the 2 ladies that took care of her got very close to her and really cared for her. I would recommend to others looking.

August 3, 2021Finding favor in the eyes of our residents and families is the ultimate litmus test. Of course it is! Here, in the cheery reports of contented lives and happy hearts does the MorningStar brand find its fullest measure.
We moved my mother into this facility thinking it was a great place. The sales person assured us that there would be wonderful activities and amenities but they do nothing activity wise for the residents. There was also an issue for me as I cannot wear a mask but was also assured that it was not a problem. That lasted one week and by the second week the sales person and receptionist tried to cover up that I was being let in mask free to the ED in charge who micro manages everyone and everything, and then I was forced to wear one. Since I can't wear one now I can't get in to see my mother. My mother is very unhappy there and can't wait to leave after only two weeks. We are moving her somewhere else. I would not recommend anyone to put their loved one in there.

July 6, 2021Sheylyn, we deeply regret reading this assessment as it is the antithesis of our stated mission and impassioned calling to serve seniors. We have worked hard to meet your mother’s expectations and those of you and your brother. The mask mandate, so long in effect in Arizona, was difficult for all of us, our seniors most of all. And despite the many restrictions put upon us by the pandemic, life enrichment included, we are proud of the creative ways our team found to regularly engage, entertain and even safely socialize residents. We wish you and your family only the very best.
So disappointed in the disconnect between the marketing staff, management, and intake as to what services they provide. We clearly laid out my mom's situation, were strung along, plied with wine, fresh baked bread, and a song and dance. When it came down to intake, the intake nurse knew nothing about dialysis (we would take her out for that and told them we didn't expect a facility to provide that service). She spent literally 30 seconds reviewing my mom's file and said they could not accommodate her. End of discussion. Never talked to or met my mom. Which in hindsight is probably a good thing we didn't put her through that ridiculous trial. Don't waste your time.
Response from MorningStar Senior Living at Golden Ridge
May 3, 2021It grieves us to read your assessment of our community. We apologize for the distress you are feeling. Given HIPAA regulations that fiercely protect private health information, this public forum is not an appropriate communication channel. However, there were specific aspects of your mother’s condition that precluded us from moving forward. Again, our sincere apologies. We wish you and your family only the very best.
They take very good care of my loved one. I was really nervous about having someone else take care of her. And she is so happy here, a lot happier than she was before. The staff love her. They love their residents and take very good care of them. They have a lot of activities that they do. They do her hair and her nails almost every day. She's always very clean. They have different puzzles and a lot of art and music activities. The staff interact with the residents. They don't just leave them. My loved one was severely underweight when she moved in. She's since then gained weight and loves the food here. She isn't very good about putting in her dentures, and the food is soft enough for her to be able to eat it without them.
Response from MorningStar Senior Living at Golden Ridge
August 3, 2021How wonderful to hear such words of affirmation. Our great thanks for taking the time to pen your heart-warming experience at MorningStar.
They are not very good communicators. They don't respond or reply to requests very well. That's my main complaint. I think that they are decent with my loved one, and it's very clean and a beautiful facility. I know that the Covid stuff made things strange, but our loved one was really cooped up and they didn't really do much to make sure she got enough exercise. It felt like she was in a prison.
Response from MorningStar Senior Living at Golden Ridge
March 22, 2021Thank you for the praises extended. However, we regret reading of your disappointment in our communication. Please accept our apology for leaving that impression. To be slow in any response is to erode a central tenet in our culture: service excellence. Our programming has increased in variety and frequency, hastened by the progressive lift of restrictions levied by health authorities. Residents are always encouraged to participation, feeling more comfortable in doing so with each restorative day. Please speak directly with our new Executive Director, Kerri Felix, to voice any continuing concerns; we want to make things right. Thank you.
The food is not very good and they don't really focus on our dietary needs. The menu is very predictable and there is not much variety. Communication could be better here also. The value of the community is good and better than other facilities. House cleaning does a good job also.

January 25, 2021Thank you for taking the time to rate us. We appreciated your candid feedback as we strive for excellence at MorningStar.
In the beginning when i was looking for a place there was a few conditions, one being there was a garage and two it was transitional. So first independent living to assisted living them to memory care. Because it was smaller the staff really got to know everyone, and from August to March it was great. We loved the are and the activities. I would rate my experience than a five out of five. The staff was okay but the residents were really awesome. I was overall very happy and i loved the place. It had been opened for 8 months when i moved in, and it was from my understanding that they had numerous assisted living and memory care facility, and this was their first experience with independent living. There were some quality issues, but overall once again i was happy there. When we went into lock down it was like the independent living residents did not exist. Our meals were delivered to us in Styrofoam containers and was mostly cold. We were not offered any activities, the pool was closed and the exercise room was locked. There was no communication from the staff to the residents who lived on the independent side. As time moved on the independent residents were allowed to come and go but the residents in assisted living and memory care had to continue to lock down. It was also my impression that management could not take a step in any direction to do anything without the permission of the cooperate offices. We complained about the food, it was bland and then it would be to spicy and salt. The executive director told us they were using no sodium or low sodium bases which was not correct. Once the lock downs started everything changed, and our biggest concern fell on the shoulders of the management since they were not given any flexibility from cooperate.

January 15, 2021Thank you for the praise you offered, and we apologize for the distress you also expressed in your review. Allow us to offer more perspective on the events of 2020. Throughout this pandemic, it has been of utmost importance that every MorningStar community be forthright and transparent in our communication. The virus impacted our Golden Ridge community minimally, a testament to our layered defenses across all aspects of operations; the few cases identified on our campus were quickly contained and resolved. Our Executive Director communicated 12 times with formal updates to residents and families whenever there was a material change. The home office also issued a dozen letters throughout the year, offering explanations and assurances of our strong defense and our compliance with health authorities. As you know, regulations and restrictions for the entire nation were ever-shifting; governors mandated lockdowns in whatever description they deemed best; we were left, as good citizens and by the dictates of our license, to comply fully. We have fared very well in infection control inspections by the health department, who commended us for our vigilance for the sake of our residents and team. Please call our new Executive Director, Kerri Felix, to discuss your concerns directly. We aspire to nothing less than your complete satisfaction.
I would tell others that the community is extremely clean, it is up-to-date, and brand new. Everyone was very nice. The food was sub-par and wasn't good for the money that my loved one is paying. The staff overall was not as friendly or helpful. The one contact I had was always nice and helpful, and this contact no longer works at this community.

My mom is so happy there, she has lots of friends and she has a dog. The only thing that needs improvement is the food right now. The living space is great with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an attached garage. I would recommend this facility.
