I haven't experienced much. They're still in lockdown pretty much. They keep telling me things are going to be changing soon. Right now we only get 15-minute visits in a separate room, so I've still not been able to see my loved one's room. He's taken care of from what I can see, and he's eating great. We've had some struggles with grooming, I suspect because my loved one tends to fight getting in the shower and things. But I addressed that with the staff, and they listened and took action. They called me to tell me he had showered, and they assured me he'll be on a regular schedule for haircuts and things. There's probably just some oversights happening since he came in during Covid. The staff are very nice, just sometimes communication is lacking. I'm not sure what activities he's doing, and with his dementia I can't rely on what he tells me. I just think it will be so much better when they open up in the next couple of weeks and you can go in more often and at different times. This is not a bad review, it's just a Covid situation where I don't know exactly what's going on. From what I've seen, I think it's a nice place. When I've called, the staff has been friendly and tried to help me. So once all these restrictions are lifted, I think I'll feel a little better.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. All of our protocols through COVID have had the safety of our residents, associates and families at the forefront of all our decisions. We hope that you are pleased with our most recent changes, as they continue to change often as we receive guidance from the state of PA as we emerge out of this pandemic. We are so happy to have our families reunited with their loved ones and seeing all our loving families again! Thank you for your support, patience and understanding through it all!
We would recommend Artis of South Hills to friends. I think it is a nice community. It isn't too large, and it is new. They take good care of the residents. My loved one seems to enjoy the food.

Thank you so much for the positive review of our community! Our associates will be pleased to hear about your feelings on their care of your loved one!
We chose Artis of South Hills because we wanted some place that was flat with no steps, someplace clean, and a place specifically for dementia patients and they fit the bill on all of these. The room sizes are excellent. She is in a single room and it is plenty big enough for her. They have shadow boxes outside of each room and you can decorate them however you'd like. They also let you decorate your own room so it feels more like your space. I have eaten here several times and I believe it is excellent. They use some of the fresh foods from their garden that residents help maintain. My favorite part of the community is the activities provided. There is something going on all the time. [name removed] is phenomenal, he does things like give the residents haircuts, he does their nails. etc. They bring therapy dogs in every 2 weeks for residents to walk around and pet them. I would absolutely recommend this community.

My father has been at your facility for a month now. In a months time, I can not believe how much my father has changed. He is socializing, eating well and is happy ! I can not even tell you how much I appreciate the staff here at Artis. They go above and beyond for every resident living here. It takes a special type of person to care for people with memory issues, as I know first hand it can be very challenging. The respect and patience they give to each resident is wonderful. I am at the facility almost every day spending time with my father and interacting with the staff and everyone has become part of my extended family . They not only have been wonderful to my father, but to me as well. The emotional support they have given me has been a total blessing to me! I am also enjoying getting to know the other residents and their families. Everyone I have come in contact with are wonderful people. Anyone considering placing a loved one into a facility, I know how hard it is, but I without a doubt can tell you this is a top notch facility and you will not be disappointed with the loving care that they will receive. My only regret is that I should have placed him sooner !! From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone at Artis Senior Living for giving my dad a wonderful life and giving me peace of mind with my decision. Love to you all !!

Kimberly, thank you so much for taking the time to review our community! We know how difficult a decision this is for all of our families and we are so happy that you have found peace of mind and comfort in having dad with us. We love having you all as part of the Artis family. It is a pleasure and a privilege to partner together in your dad's care and honoring the wonderful man that he is. Thank you again for sharing this. It means a lot to all of us.
Placing my father in a dementia care facility was something I prayed I would never have to do. Although dementia has robbed him of so much, we still see him as the greatest father in the world. After visiting quite a few facilities, we chose Artis. It is bright and clean. The staff are friendly, caring and understand how to care for dementia patients. Although it is a secure facility, it doesn't have a “locked in” feel. My father has been at Artis for two months now. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the entire staff. They treat my dad like family. They call him by name. They genuinely care about him. He is clean. His room is clean. He participates in activities like exercise class, bingo, noodle ball, movies and more. He is happy and comfortable. No, it isn't home. But I feel that it is as close to home as it can possibly be. I know he is safe. I know he is cared for. I know he will not wander away. Thank you to every single member of the Artis staff.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. This couldn't be a truer testament to the philosophy of our company! We strive everyday to create positive partnerships with our families and residents so that we can provide to your dad and your family exactly what you have outlined above. We know how difficult this decision is, and we are happy we can give you some peace of mind in the midst of the struggle. He is always your dad, and we love that we have the opportunity to honor the wonderful man that he is! Our entire team will be thrilled to hear of your positive praise! Thank you again!
Our mother had lived in a facility prior to Artis. I thought all facilities were the same, but that is far from true. My mother has never been so happy and is thriving wonderfully. Artis goes above and beyond caring for their residents and their customer service is fabulous. All staff members are pleasant to be around which is more important in a personal care home search than anything. Thank you ASL!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our community. I'm sorry you felt we had some trouble taking care of our residents upon opening. We are pleased to let you know that since we have opened our doors, we have our community over 50% occupied with very happy families and residents that are partnering together in the best in memory care in South Hills. Please consider giving us another chance or to talk further with you about your initial concerns.
Artis is a brand new building. It is on secure grounds and have small group areas for the residents. They are currently awaiting state authorization to start up. They will be a memory care facility. I had a very nice meeting with [name removed]. However, for my family's need they will not be on option. Residents must be able to stand and transfer. If you need memory care support, I'd suggest giving them a call.
Building still under construction. People we met are fabulous. Very excited about this facility.
