As North America’s largest senior living care and referral service, we feel it is important to support the education of future senior care professionals. For the last five years, A Place for Mom has offered multiple scholarships to students who are pursuing a career which involves working with seniors.
In late 2017 we made changes to our scholarship, which included moving to a video-based scholarship and offering scholarships on a quarterly – rather than annual – basis.
The A Place for Mom Senior Wisdom Video Scholarship proved to be very successful and we received many wonderful student videos which shared stories of how seniors contribute to society, serve as mentors and make a difference in our communities.
We are pleased to announce our first winner, Edwin Espinosa. Espinosa is a doctoral student at the University of Central Florida who chose physical therapy as his future career because of the dramatic changes that physical therapy can have on a senior’s mobility and their quality of life.

Our advisors help 300,000 families each year find the right senior care for their loved ones.
Espinosa’s inspiration comes from family members, residents he met while volunteering at senior communities and the many patients he has helped as a physical therapy student.
Thank you to all of the students who submitted videos and congratulations Edwin, we wish you much success in the future!
