Mr. Cresta Sr. was a World War II veteran who served his country as an airplane mechanic in the United States Navy maintaining F6 Hellcat fighter aircraft at Fentress Field in Norfolk, Va. Later, as a civilian, Mr. Cresta also helped build Tench-class submarines at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, including the well-known Albacore. For many years, he worked as the loyal and dedicated caretaker for Lady Isle School in Portsmouth, serving the Sisters of Providence, where he lived with his family. In his younger days, he was an avid golfer, skier and water skier, and loved to be with his family. He was an active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, acting as governor for a few years and playing an active role in the community. He had also been a member of the Knights of Columbus and celebrated his Italian heritage. He and Mina loved their "snowbird" house in Barefoot Bay, Fla., where for many years he played golf and tennis, and participated in related activities.
