Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Each year, A Place for Mom supports the Alzheimer’s Association and its annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Learn more about how we’re raising Alzheimer’s awareness and funding in 2015 to find a cure for the disease.
A Place for Mom and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s
The Alzheimer’s Association reports that 1-in-9 Americans over the age of 65 has Alzheimer’s, making it the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. and the only cause that cannot be prevented or cured. In 2015 alone, the costs to Americans caring for those with Alzheimer’s will total an estimated $226 billion.
The numbers are staggering and will to continue to rise each year until something is done — which is why A Place for Mom participates in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. It is something that is personal to us and our families who have been impacted by the disease.
Sean Kell, CEO, elaborates on why we walk:
“As a company that helped over 85,000 families find memory care options in 2014, our employees understand the devastating impact that Alzheimer’s has on seniors and their families. Putting an end to this disease is a priority for us, and why each year A Place for Mom supports the Alzheimer’s Association and its annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising campaign.
As a Walk to End Alzheimer’s National Team, A Place for Mom will be forming local teams and raising funds for Walks across the country and in return will earn national recognition benefits. The funds raised will advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Your local team donations will play an important role in improving the lives of people living with Alzheimer’s, their families and caregivers.”
Fundraising for a Cure for Alzheimer’s
This year, we have had great success fundraising for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We have raised over $16,000 through company fundraising events and teams across the U.S. — and will continue fundraising in upcoming weeks, as we work towards a national goal of $50,000.
Walks for Alzheimer’s will take place across the nation from August-October 2015. Find a walk in your community to participate in the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
