Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as preferences regarding other issues important to the resident applicant, an initial comprehensive exam including medical history , significant known behaviors or symptoms that may cause concern or require special care, and activities and service preferences. This facility type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include medication administration provided through nurse delegation, medication administration, and resident self-administration of medication. Staff must receive training in a number of subjects. These include: nurse delegation and core diabetes, safety training (3 hours), specialty training, and HIV/AIDS. Public assistance is available through Medicaid 1915(c) Waiver program--Community Options Program Entry System (COPES).There is a maximum occupancy of 2 residents per room. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of facility is required to offer a number of services. These include promote each resident's health, safety, and well-being consistent with the resident negotiated care plan, general responsibility for each resident, facilities choose to provide certain health support services, and basic personal care services.
