Assisted living communities have the luxury of apartment-style housing and social interaction as well as individual care. The services provided often involve aid with ADLs. Inhabitants may be kept under observation and assessment. In select cases, communities may provide dementia care, hospice, or “aging in place”. Public assistance is available through 1915(c) Assisted Living Program and the 1915(b)(c) Managed Care Demonstration Waiver called MyCare. These provisions include verifying labels, assistance opening and taking medication, and handing medications to resident. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with self-administration of medication, activities, intermittent nursing services, and medication administration.
