Assisted living communities have the luxury of apartment-style housing and social events as well as individual care. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include maintain a standard of food preparation that meets the needs of residents, provide three meals a day, and prepare meals and snacks based on the Food and Nutrition board’s recommended dietary allowances. Public assistance is available through 1115 Demonstration Waiver program–Managed Long-Term Services and Supports. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include administer medication, monitor dosage, and supervise and assist with self-administration of medication. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include social work services, assist with personal care, transportation, and limited nursing care. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to ensure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as routines and preferences, plan updates regarding changes in physical or cognitive states, nursing needs, and a level of care assessment.
