Assisted living communities offer apartment-style housing and social events as well as personalized support. Services provided often involve support with activities of daily living. Occupants may be kept under observation and evaluation. In some instances, communities may offer continuing care, hospice, or respite. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to ensure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as a negotiated risk plan will be established, community will identify scope of care based on evaluation, evaluation must be updated at least semi-annually or when a significant change in condition occurs, and A comprehensive assessment. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include preparation of prescribed medications, Medications may be administered under physician’s order by licensed nursing personnel or qualified medication aides, and distribution of prescribed medications. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must consider residents’ food allergies, communities must provide three meals a day, communities must consider residents’ reasonable religious preferences, and communities must consider residents’ ethnic preferences.
