My mom was only with AltaVita for a month before her passing, and in that month I saw her happier than she had been in the past 5 years. They have a very professional staff, they pay attention to details, and they showed me over and over that they’re very caring for every one of their residents. They make sure they give extra attention to those that need it the most or need help eating and they always go that extra mile to give them a gentle touch on their backs, it’s so heartwarming. They spend time talking to people and they watch out for each other. If one staff person is busy, another person will make sure their time is spent helping someone else. I was lucky to eat lunch there twice and both times the food was great. I watched them check and record the food temperature several times. They monitor the quality of the food very closely and it’s always well prepared. The only constructive thing I would say is that it’d be nice if they could figure out the individual portion needs to keep the residents from over eating. Everything has been clean every time I’ve visited and I’ve never noticed anything out of order or in disarray. The residents all seemed to be happy and personable. Even when a resident was being difficult, a staff member would always handle it in a positive way. AltaVita is kind of expensive, but at the end of the day it’s worth the price. They use the money they receive for good things, to help make their residents’ lives better. It felt like they were there for the people, not the profit. I’m glad I was able to help my mom live out her last days here because they truly made her feel like she was home.Read more
