Assisted living communities administer social interaction, oversight, and care to individuals around 65 years old. The services offered often involve assistance with activities of daily living. Residents may be kept under monitoring and assessment. Under certain circumstances, communities may provide hospice, respite, or “aging in place”. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include the total daily diet must meet the recommended dietary allowances of the National Academy of Sciences Food and Nutrition Board, meals must comply with diet prescribed by physicians, communities must provide at least three meals per day and snacks, and meals must include an appropriate variety of foods, planned in consideration of cultural and religious backgrounds . Public assistance is available through The state’s Medicaid 1915(c) Assisted Living Waiver program.
