Will long term care insurance approve my claim for care?

I have long term care insurance and am currently living in assisted living. Once extra care is factored in it is more expensive that I expected although I do like it. When should I request my long term insurance policy to start paying and what do Long-term care insurance companies typically look for when determining whether or not to approve a claim?

They normally require a client to need assistance with 2+ activities of daily living (ADLs) in order to qualify for care. A severe cognitive impairment, requiring safety supervision, should also qualify a client to receive care. Carriers or policies may also require certain credentials from the provider or caregiver.
