Anyone else having trouble with SSI and long term care?

My mom is 46 she had a massive stroke and cannot walk. Or move much of her body and just now able to talk a little. The place she's at is over an hour away and not taking good care of her. She has a stage 3 wound in less than 2 months. I am trying to move her closer to me and I cannot get anyone to accept her without her being approved for ssi. She just was approved for Medicaid disability. She also has Indiana hip insurance. She was denied ssi before her stroke and is now 6 months into an appeal with no hearing date set. I don't know what to do.

I would recommend you contact a local attorney who handles social security disability claims. The attorneys who handle these cases usually handle only social security matters. In addition, the best time to contact them is when you receive a denial and are looking to make an appeal. Finally, their fees are regulated by Social Security and they get paid out of any award.

Contact your local state representative or senator, this is exactly the kind of problem they are supposed to deal with. Since your mothers situation has changed that justifies moving the appeal date up.
