Do senior citizens have to file taxes on their social security income?

My dad read online that because he is over 70 and his only income is Medicaid that he no longer has to file US income taxes. Is this correct?

Social Security income is generally not counted as taxable income unless you have substantial other income. So he probably does not have to file.
