Is a POA valid in more than one state?

Does anyone know about using a POA from one state to another state without the expense of hiring another attorney to handle it for us?

Powers of attorneys are contracts. As such, they are ususally portable from state to state. However, real estate laws vary among the states, so if you plan to use the POA to buy or sell real estate, you might want to have it reviewed locally.
