Every senior and their family are different and the staffs at assisted living will know if in your case this is really a good idea.
Generally speaking, someone who has just moved into a senior community should spend at least thirty days in the community without interruption. This will give them the chance to adjust and make new acquaintances better.
After they have adjusted well to their new home, it could be easier when transitioning back and forth to stay with family.
When it comes to the holidays, senior communities often are great places to celebrate and the family may be better off joining in the festivities there while the senior can feel they are “hosting” once again.
