It's a good idea to talk to your physician if you are having nutritional concerns.
Often physician suggest and in some cases order this nutritional supplement to supplement a diet otherwise lacking due to physical needs (maybe unable to chew meats, etc) and assistance with someone who has little desire to eat to regain strength and ensure some level of health.
The first question I would ask is WHY don't they want to eat (if that is the case)? Are they lonely and longing for the social component of a meal? Do they have an underlying medical need that hasn't been addressed yet?
