Ask a Question

Are there any nursing homes that offer respite care in Illinois?

We are planning a weekend trip and since Mom cannot go and cannot stay at my house by herself, just wondering if there are any nursing homes that allow seniors to come and stay for a weekend?

Many senior care communities do provide respite or short term stay options. Please give us a call at 866-568-2989 and we would be happy to put you in touch with a Senior Living Advisor who specializes in your area and is familiar with communities who would be able to offer short term stay for your mom.

Lots of them do. Call and ask ones in your area.
There may be an assessment that must be done before and a doctor's form will have to be completed and the chances are real good that a TB skin test will be necessary.
If any of them say that will offer respite as a way to "try out the community" use that as an option you do not need to sign a contract at the time.
Also another option would be to contact an agency and find out how much it would be to have someone come to the house. Your Mom will be more at ease in surroundings she knows.
Price out both options and figure out what one works better for you. I know it is a big step having someone come into your house but at least if you go through an agency the employees are bonded.
Enjoy your weekend!
