Are there classes that teach internet safety for senior citizens?

Can I control grandpa's computer remotely so that I can make sure he's not downloading viruses or using his credit card on disreputable sites?

There are programs available for purchase that would allow you to control your grandfather's computer (examples: LogMeIn, TeamViewer). However, you would have to spend a fair amount of your time and effort monitoring his online behavior. It seems better for your sanity and better for your grandfather's self-esteem to find a class or in-home tutor where he could learn some internet safety skills.

A free and easy way to start is by visiting (a federal government website) which provides instructions on how to be safe and secure online.

For a more social and hands-on approach, search for senior centers and libraries located in your grandfather's community as they frequently have computer safety classes.
