Medicare is designed to pay for health care services for physicians and hospital services.

It will not pay for care giving services such as adult day care.

Medicare will pay for short term care services authorized by a doctor and approved by medicare, i.e. physicial therapy, post surgery care which requires a visit by a licensed LVN or RN for post cancer treatment, stroke, or other illnesses.

If the issue is chronic and for an extended period of time, medicare will not pay for extended care services.

For the most part, Medicare will not pay for adult day services. However, in many states, Medicaid will cover adult day services, should the individual qualify for Medicaid coverage. If you have to pay out-of-pocket for adult daycare, these expenses are almost always tax deductible.
