Medicare offers a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan - Part D option that covers prescription drugs. However, sometimes you need to pay a premium for this, on top of your Medicare Part B premium. The cost of the plan will vary based on income – individuals making more than $85,000 annually will pay an additional income-related monthly adjustment. This extra amount is paid directly to Medicare, not your plan.
If you are a part of a Medicare Advantage Plan - Part C, which is a Medicare health plan offered by private companies, then your premium will often include drug coverage.
