How can I find pet care for a low income senior?

Are there agencies that will help my mom care for her small dog while she recovers from surgery?

Check with the nearest Humane Society. They work with your local vets and may be able to assist.

Check with the vet she uses they might have an idea. Some Senior Service Organizations might have volunteers that might be willing to help.
You could also talk to her friends they might be able to help out and if she is a member of a church you might be able to put a notice in the bulletin asking for help.

Check with your local Council on Aging. They may be able to hook you up with the correct agency or have a volunteer that can help out.

I would speak to the vet that takes of her dog annually for their shots and routine checkups...

Often there are dog lovers in her neighborhood or church who are willing to keep a pet in their home or check on the pet at home while someone is in the hospital without charging. I have done this for people many times as I know how important not worrying about your pets can be!
