Why won't my dad talk to me anymore?

My dad has all of a sudden stopped me from visiting and when I call he hangs up after a minute or two. The only person he will speak with is his younger brother. What could be causing this?

My husband also stopped talking on the phone. I thought it was because he could not associate the voice to the person he was talking to.
He may feel mor comfortable talking to his brother because it is a voice he still recognizes more than other voices.
I think my husband also stopped talking on the phone because he dod not want to "make a mistake and say something wrong". But I will never know the real reason why.
As to why he does not want you to visit it is possible that he is afraid he will make a mistake and be embarrased if he does something "wrong"
Don't ask him when you can come visit. Tell him you will see him on ...what ever day you can get to visit.
He may also be embarrased if he is not keeping the house as clean as he had in the past. If you nitice that is the case don't pester him about it but you might want to make one of your visits on a day before garbage day and just take some of the garbage out for him.
Hoarding does become a problem for some people so watch for that.

As a geriatric care manager when this happens we often find that a family member is poisoning the parent for their own reasons, often financial gain. Do you have POA for finances? Does Dad have assets? Do you trust your uncle 100%? If you have any reason to believe something inappropriate is happening, you may need to involve an attorney or contact Adult Protective Services. They can help assess for financial or emotional abuse. I hope I am wrong.
